Gay Pride parade in Santa Fe!

I myself am one of those boring heterosexuals, but I marched today in Santa Fe's Gay Pride Parade with a local Presbyterian Church group. We were right in front of a wonderfully vocal GLBT group who chanted various slogans. At two points along the parade route (maybe 3/4 of a mile long) we were met with very small -- 5 or 6 person -- who had the Jesus Hates Fags signs and nonsense like that, but everyone else all along the way was absolutely supportive.

The really truly best part was that in the parade were several vehicles with signs for local elected officials, including our two senators, Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall. I moved to NM from Kansas three years ago, and it was the presence of politicos that was most amazing.
