That sound you hear is Strom Thurmond getting a hard on in his grave.

3. No, I never "loved" him
I was "in love with him".

I was a John Edwards supporter. After he dropped out, I became an agnostic between Obama and Clinton (Clinton is WAY too conservative for me, and I knew nothing about Obama).

Once Omama became the candidate, I supported him whole heartedly. Unfortunately, he turned out to be as much of a disappointment as Bill Clinton was.

As the Prophet Lily Tomlin said "No matter how cynical you get, it is impossible to keep up."

5. Teh List has been pretty thoroughly de-bunked elsewhere
And, people who care to know what reality is like have found out about that already. The rest of them *cough GD:P* will roll up a fresh copy of teh list and smack me on the nose for being cheeky.

6. Bad gay, no biscuit!
Ugh that speech was so gross though. It's 2011 and he is totally on the wrong side of this issue. Even right wing Republicans see which way the wind is blowing.

7. Like I said, Strom Thurmond got a woodie from it!
Yeah, and the gay-glitterati who can afford to spend 35K to eat a plate full of lies/shit from the President consumed it with relish! and asked for seconds.

9. valid in some contexts, yes
but so what?

SO are the 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 21st, 24th and 26th amendments to the US Constitution.

However, invalid in other contexts:

Federal non-recognition of same-sex marriages has no affect on state rights. States are still free to recognize or not recognize same sex marriages regardless of Federal status. Obama is trying to take some strange middle-path 3rd way. OR he's just playing politics with people's lives.

10. States have shown time and time again that they are incapible of providing equality
Guess Obama and the rest of his chorus would be happy with Jim Crow laws returning.

11. Maybe they should.
It might remind folks of what it's like to be second class citizens again.

13. Well, poll taxes are returning, and the SCOTUS said it's all right.
At the end of the day, requiring photo id is just a poll tax.

16. I bet Obama is glad his parents' generation didn't leave equality and rights up to the states.
They understood that basic civil liberties need federal protection. He wouldn't president today without the civil rights acts.
