Gay Marriage Threatens Church Cartel on Fear and Prejudice, Says Olbermann
http://www.goddiscussion.com/68204/gay-marriage-threatens-church-cartel-on-fear-and-prejudice-says-olbermann/

In his new Countdown program on Current TV, Keith Olbermann observed that without prejudice and fear, the business of religion would fail. His remarks were made in the context of the gay marriage debate taking place in New York.

Gay marriage does not destroy the family, in the view of younger people, and certainly does not destroy democracy. Olbermann thinks that at some point, same sex marriage will no longer be an issue. The younger generation's lack of fear and prejudice opposes the church's cartel.

"If you think big league religions are only about faith and not about business, or are not about keeping people scared, then you have not been paying attention in church or without," he said.

2. Not just young people, either
I am older than Keith, and I have never been able to make any sense of any argument against allowing same-sex couples to marry. And I don't think I'm alone, because I have not encountered anyone who opposes gay marriage who would even try to to explain their reasoning to me.

3. Me Neither
I keep asking two questions, neither of which I have gotten answers to:

How have GLBT people EVER harmed YOU?

How would the right of GLBT poeple to legal CIVIL marriage affect your life?

4. Exactly. Everyone I know,when asked
end up applying sexual preference as a second thought..
"they are a kind person, a thoughtful teacher, a model citizen...oh, and gay"

Sexual preference... to MOST people...should be a non-issue.

5. Allowing gay people to have equal rights would be very harmful to some people.
Institutions - such as the Catholic Church, Mormon Church, many Protestant Churches - that depend on people agreeing that white straight men deserve to be in charge of everything will be harmed. They will lose power and they know it.
