3. No they couldn't...
This isn't the way the New York Senate works. while they'll be formally in session, all the real work will be done in a back room, and it'll be clearly announced in advance whether they plan to bring anything to the floor.

No time for debate. Either they won't vote at all, DAMN, or they have already decided and it will be a straight up or down vote.

Cannot take much more of this.

12. No, they aren't. They can be kept there indefinitely until the legislative business is finished.
Same-sex marriage is not the only thing that's been delayed; a big compromise about rent control and property taxes has also been repeatedly pushed back.

Technically, the session was supposed to end Monday, but it could well go on a few more days.
