New Canadian Project for LGBT Refugees
from Advocate.com

Canadian immigration minister Jason Kenney announced a pilot project in which the government will work with the LGBT community to help persecuted refugees.

The Toronto Star reports on the effort between Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Rainbow Refugee Committee to sponsor refugees.

“The department will provide $100,000 in assistance to cover three months of income support for the refugees upon their arrival here, while the Rainbow committee will offer orientation services, accommodation, food and other basic needs,” reports the Star.

1. Be warned. It is election time and the neocons want a majority so they can social engineer
Canada in their image.

2. Could Americans be considered refugees?
The U.S. denies Constitutional protection to same sex couples. My country and my state refuse to recognize my marriage. If they offered me $100,000 and help to get settled, I may just pack up and get out of here. Can't be any worse than Indiana.

3. Agreed.
I would leave in a heartbeat if my husband and I could qualify for refugee status. We are denied full civil rights in this country.
