Gay Unions 'Perversity' Mich. Senator Says
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/10/100705michSen.htm

State Sen. Michael J. Goschka brushed off an apology demand from a gay rights group upset by his description of unions between committed gay couples as "utter perversity."

The Brant Township Republican voted Thursday with a majority of the Senate in favor of resolutions urging the Michigan Supreme Court to block public-sector employers, including state government, from providing health insurance to the partners of gay employees until the court makes a final ruling on the issue. (story)

In an e-mail sent to a constituent earlier in the week, Goschka invoked God and Christian principles as "bedrock" reasons for gays not to be covered by health insurance through a partner's public-sector job.

hello, separation of church and state ring a bell Senator?

2. Check out this Michigan anti-gay group
http://www.afamichigan.org/category/homosexualagenda/

>>American Family Association of Michigan President Gary Glenn, who first proposed and co-authored the amendment overwhelmingly approved last November by Michigan voters, predicted that the state Supreme Court will agree with Cox and amendment backers that the measure does prohibit government employers from recognizing homosexual relationships as equal or similar to marriage for the purpose of providing employment benefits.

“On behalf of most Michigan families and voters, we are deeply grateful to Attorney General Cox for his faithfulness in representing the will of the people of Michigan <<

This guy Gary Glenn is a radicalrightwing activist and the groups reason for being is gay bashing and denying rights to gays.

3. Anyone from Michigan will remember...
during the campaign these and other proponents of Proposal 2 swore up and down that it was only going to affect marriage, despite the "any similar union" language.

I thought lying was a sin.

4. Someone who lives in that area
should really slam this shoddy excuse for a state senator in the Saginaw newspaper. For one thing, the constituent did NOT request a theological sermon from a self-proclaimed "christian". . .in my opinion, that Senator violated his oath of office by refusing to uphold the state constitution and proselytizing his personal religious interpretion of God.

I am willing to bet the Michigan constitution has a rather clearly written article concerning the right to worship as one chooses - however, that right does NOT mean an elected senator is allowed to browbeat his own citizens for NOT worshipping as HE does.

Frankly, if the state senator feels this strongly, someone needs to suggest in the local newspaper that he put his time into traveling around faith healing people in the state and help save a nearly bankrupt state some needless monies being spent to provide heterosexual couples special benefits.
