Disney hated "gay" Jack Sparrow
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/8169961/Johnny-Depp-Disney-thought-Jack-Sparrow-was-gay.html

Jack Sparrow, the flamboyant character from the successful Pirates of the Caribbean film series played by Johnny Depp, was initially unpopular with Disney, the actor has admitted.

The flamboyant pirate, which Depp says was based on the Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, has become one of the best-known film characters in the last decade, and helped turn the films into a billion dollar franchise.

In an interview with Patti Smith for the January edition of Vanity Fair magazine however, Depp said Disney initially "couldn't stand" his version of Sparrow, with one person asking if the character was gay. Depp told the Disney executive "all my characters are gay", adding that "really made her nervous".

Depp's next role is in the movie "The Tourist", in which he co-stars with Angelina Jolie. It opens next month.

13. Yeah...
I love Johnny Depp, too. He was great in Ed Wood...and hey, Jack Sparrow is my role model lol What can I say?

The whole world is not one big Fof or FRC chapter. Disney can stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

5. "All my characters are gay"
God I love Johnny. Such a great thing to say, especially to the Disney fucks, who are fucks of a particular breed that need to have such things said to them.

8. I never thought of Sparrow as gay
I always thought of him as being omnisexual. Still, gotta love Depp's comments.

12. I think some Disney people confused "flamboyant" and "gay."
But yeah, that is hilarious. I can almost see him channeling a little Jack Sparrow to find exactly the right thing to say to make some uptight studio heads more nervous, for his own amusement.

11. The woman who was the head of Disney pictures when pirates was greenlighted is gay.
So I'm sure she didn't have a problem with Dep's interpretation because he seemed gay.
