NY Sen. Joseph Addabbo To Gays: Thanks For The Cash, Now Go Fuck Yourselves
NY Sen. Joseph Addabbo To Gays: Thanks For The Cash, Now Go Fuck Yourselves

Democratic NY state Sen. Joseph Addabbo is super appreciative for all those homos that volunteered for his campaign and gave him "tons of money." But seriously, go fuck yourselves.

During a debate on NY1’s Inside City Hall on Friday, Addabbo, who represents a conservative district in Queens, said that he would be open to voting yes on the marriage equality bill, provided his constituency supported it. He refused to state his own position on the issue, as he did last year, when he appealed to constituent opposition as the reason for his no vote. Near the end of the 21-minute debate, Addabbo and his Republican opponent Anthony Como, who opposes the bill, seemed to joke about the “ton of money” the Democrat received from gay activists. “I appreciated all the LGBT community volunteer hours and their financial support, but I can’t be bought,” said Addabbo. “So even though they gave me a ton of money, I can’t be bought. I voted the way my people wanted me to vote.”

4. Note that in the candidates language there are 'his people'
and 'those other people'. They gave me money, but I'm voting how my people want. Ponder that exclusionary lexicon.

7. It's disgusting and obnoxious how we're treated...
Why is the post obnoxious and disgusting? Because the politician said it?

8. That doesn't sound like someone deserving of support to me.
Sounds to me like a primary opponent would be a good idea next time, assuming that he does vote no on the bill.

9. Sounds like he wants a job in the Obama administration and with that attitude he just might get one.
He is another shining example of how some Dems are not much different than Reps on LGBT issues. No wonder LGBT voters are so disillusioned this year.

10. Dis-illusioned
is that such a bad thing? To have illusion revealed for what it is? The illusion that electing Obama and a HUGE Democratic Congress would actually make a difference on GLBT issues was just that, an illusion.

11. When corporate lobbyists show up, they listen.
When we show up, they just want our money, and then want us to willingly go away with nothing but a meaningless hand shake.

That is PREJUDICE in action. No matter how much money we have, we will never be considered equal. We will never be as good as straight people, or any organization that is presumed (by default) to represent the interests of rich straight people.
