Admiral Mullen goes out swinging against DADT.
Watching the hearing, he made it clear in no uncertain terms that he does not support the policy and believes it is for the betterment of the Armed Forces to change it. Wooo!

McCain thinks that the policy should not be changed (at least, not at this time) and has historically said that DADT has been "working well."

Edited for clarity.

4. Dear Admiral Mullen: we won't ask your opinion, please don't tell.
But if you must, you can go to hell.

;-)

(Should I sign it "Burma Shave"?)

5. I think few realize it, but THIS is the path to Federal recognition of gay marriage.
When I was still on active duty, I wondered why no one had taken this course yet. Heres the story.

When I got married in 2002, in order for my wife to be recognized as mu dependent, I was required to take a copy of the marriage certificate to my admin department. They added it to my service record and viola, she was no my dependent and my marriage federally recognized.
Sounds simple, right? Well, I asked my Admin officer what would happen if someone (meaning someone who had married same sex)brought in their marriage certificate from a state that had legalized gay marriage? He said they would not be allowed to add it or the members spouse. I asked why not? If you accept the state marriage certificate from a two gender marriage, then the state marriage certificate from a same gender marriage has got to be just as legal, right?
The short of the story was, that if a member did that, then they would be violating DADT and would be discharged. Made sense, I didn't agree with DADT, but that was the policy, so I understood that it would not be a case of not honoring a marriage certificate, it would be a violation of another policy.

So, here we are, DADT IS going to be repealed, and when it does, very gay/lesbian member that is or want to get married should immediately bring in their marriage certificate. If it is not recognized, then that is a CLEAR CUT case of discrimination and is patently Unconstitutional. Should be THE way to get FEDERAL recognition of same sex marriage, right? AM i missing something?
