1. I just donated a small amount

all I can do right now - but I'm thrilled that part of it will go to Planned Parenthood. They are a WONDERFUL organization!

Why should I give 90% to a site that's done what this one has done? This a meaningless gesture (on the part of DU - no slur intended on PFLAG), given how homophobia and gay-bashing are tolerated, while long-time posters have been TS'd for posting "7." (Just to give one example.)

3. It's a nice step

If there were some kind of reinstatement of the mass purged from this place, I'd be inclined to donate. Until then, it's still too difficult. I'd like to be supportive of DU since I spend more time here now than I have in the past few years, but I think about all the good people who were removed for no very good reason, and I feel like donating would be a slap in their face.

It is a good step though, and the recent slapping down of bigots and now this PFLAG inclusion are positive developments on a site where I know many LGBTers feel a bit besieged.

As it stands now, so many I loved and adored are gone now. :(
