Hey, don't stew in your outrage!
A pom-pom boy just warned us not to stew in outrage...and to enjoy the next 7 years of President Obama.

Really?

Do you know what makes me really stew in outrage? The fact that I, as a single taxpayer, am paying a higher tax rate in order to give tax breaks to married couples. The same married couples who, on my dime, then turn around and breezily vote against my rights.

Do you know what makes me stew in outrage? Being lied to by another Democratic politician. Not just Obama - all of 'em. It's becoming an abusive relationship and at some point, your outrage stewage (is that a word? Fuck it) leads you to break off the relationship. Will losing 3-5 points (not all of us are strong enough to break it off) hurt us in 2010? 2012? Yeah? THEN GET OFF YOUR ASSES, DEMOCRATS. WE'RE SERIOUSLY PISSED. Hey, Gibbs - these "State issues" are breaking our fucking backs! Enough of the weasel words!

Stew on this, fanboys - keep it up, and enjoy your next 3 years of President Obama...

Seriously pissed here. Who are these goddamn people to lecture us?

I'm a straight guy that agrees w/ you; it's an outrage. I'm sick about what happened in Maine last night and I'm so sorry. I'll always stand w/ you until you and my other GLBT friends get the same civil rights I have.

3. Who are they?
They are people with all the rights, no questions asked. They want you to stay down because many of them think that sharing the rights that they have will lessen them. Some are just mean and uncaring because they have theirs. Some are just assholes and some are "liberals" who don't really understand the meaning of the word, or maybe what it used to mean. Who knows anymore? Liberals, true liberals are a scarce lot these days.

Fanboys are people who don't like to think. They have turned their minds over to the party. It is easier that way. One day they will learn that if your rights can be so cavalierly treated and voted away so can theirs. Eventually this will come to them too or close enough to scare them. Do you think they will remember what you have been saying then? Nah, they will demand that you support them even if you never got anything you needed to be treated as a full citizen. Screw them.

I too am pissed. I am so angry I think I will go back to my self imposed exile from this place. I KNEW I should not come in today but for some reason I did.

Here is the only thing I have to offer through cyberspace......:grouphug: That and my promise to get back to work on these issues. I took a year off because of personal crisis, now it is time to get back on my feet and work again. I don't know how much it will help but I will be there. My rights mean nothing if they are not shared by all.

Screw them. They are not people who are fit to hold the rights that they have. If they were they would understand the meaning of them and they do not.

15. It is good to see you!
I am mostly on Facebook now. If you are there send me a PM and we can friend there and keep up. I miss so many people but, but, but......I have not been able to handle anymore than I was dealing with personally. I am sorry I abandoned everything but I had to. This hurts, this hurts a lot and for anyone ANYONE to not understand or to just not shut the fuck up when people are hurting is just too much. I expect behavior and statements that I see here from people who would not darken the door of a website that was not fundie/rightwing, never from anyone on a site that proposes to be democratic and liberal.

4. I read that also
"A pom-pom boy just warned us not to stew in outrage...and to enjoy the next 7 years of President Obama."

This is the 90's all over again. Clinton ran left of where he governed and we were always told NAFTA, workfare, and every other piece of DLC crap that came down the line was a "necessary" compromise. Back then we heard the same thing from the pom pom crowd.
Just like in the 90's, us lefties get tossed aside as soon as we win, and its right back to the usual corporate fellatio.

10. Fuck them
I didn't vote for Obama last year and I won't vote for him next time around unless there are some serious changes.

In fact, I will never again vote for anybody who is not in full support of me and mine. Fuck this shit about voting for somebody just because they have a "D" after their name. People have to earn my votes now or they don't get them.

They don't care about us, it's high time we stopped giving them our support.

And don't even start in with me about that "one issue voter" shit. It's far from one issue and I'm so not in the mood.

12. Those goddamn people are assholes.
This place is sadly predictable. The most tragic thing is that they see themselves as the victims. I'm surprised there is anyone left who is gay who posts here. :(

13. So much fuss over a pet issue
Clearly you should just allow state's rights to pursue the proper course towards your fabulous pink pony, a pony that should have galloped away from the word "marriage" to appease the pitchforkian anti-marriage crowd. Why can't you just be happy with our President who will do the right thing, but who also bears no responsibility for any of this, for Congress is the one that has to do everything, but why aren't you giving the President credit for good stuff, except for the bad stuff, which you should take up with Congress, and you're not really gay, just a freeper, and I, speaking as a Ugandese, Albanian, LGBTer of color, Frenchness, and vague Canadian citizenship can tell you all of these things.

Hrm *examines above*

I think I hit all the broad points.

Gobama! As far away from gay issues as rapidly as possible.

20. Mind-boggling, isn't it?
Makes the recurring "Civil Unions For Everybody" posts seem novel and well-considered, by comparison.

I mean... whaaaa??? Are there really people in this world who think th' gays are upset because they don't get to have a "special day"???

:wow:

22. I'm afraid I have little patience anymore for that level of insulting cluelessness
My god is right... you would either have to have chosen to be willfully and deliberately ignorant about the equality movement (in which case, why would you post a thread about it), not give a fig about equality anyway, or simply be pulling chains to get a reaction. I'm not sure what the case may be but I've simply run out of patience for that kind of crap, especially when it's delivered with a lecture.
