an open letter to my GLBT DUers.

hi. I was unaware of a lot of the crap that's been going on, due to limited online time and staying mainly in the "latest" forum.
It was brought to my attention from a couple of posts (and I then researched a little on my own)
that there have been some very insensitive and by all appaerances homophobic stuff posted in here in the last little bit of time.

I wanted to post something positive and supportive, not that I have any qualification to do so, except having many GLBT friends and coworkers and a long history of supporting your issues.

so here's my postitive and supportive thread: your issues are just as if not more so important to the democratic platform than any others. For one thing, you're being denied rights that should be an entitlement to everyone. I support your cause to be heard, and to be heard without being ridiculed or condescended to in order to discuss them.

I also think that the GLBT forum should be open to straight folk like me, but not to straight folk that appear bent on stirring crap.

Keep up the faith, and I will always vote on your behalf, when I have the opportunity.

Including straight people. When one challenges injustice one is promoting one's own enlightened self-interest.

The GLBT movement, for example, helped to accelerate the breakdown and phaseout of the straight-jacket ( no pun intended) gender roles that were almost universally accepted in US society pre-1960s.

Who really wants to go back to that?
