Seriously, reading around, I feel like I stumbled onto Free Republic. Just, wow. It's one thing when your homophobia is encountered on a kind of IV drip. You get used to it and barely notice. But when you sit back and take it in all at once.

It's a wonder any of us post here anymore. Jesus. And the worst of the worst anti-gay trolls are some of the most prolific posters!

Can't really call anything out, as it's against rules. I'm just catching up on HRC dinner / Equality March threads from the past four days. There are some mind-blowing attitudes, the usual hostility, ponyism, etc. When you check the board several times a day, it gets a bit lost in the general wash. But reading it all grouped together, the overt hostility to equality and LGBT views is impossible to ignore.

Sorry that is happening. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make bigotry, hatred, homophobia and racism evaporate.

FWIW, I'm often surprised at what I see posted here on other issues as well. I would have thought we would be monolithically against torture, as an example, but I have seen people defend various aspects of it here.

I think homophobia and racism are the worst forms of hatred because they are based on who a person is, not what they do. Its wrong.

20. Ponyism

It's a degrading, dismissive term used against those who want the administration to keep its promises. It's based on asking for a pony for Christmas. For example, if someone expresses disappointment in the administration for not moving on LGBT issues, someone will invariably say "You're just upset you didn't get your pony."

As if equality under the law were some frivolous request based on whim, and those who don't have it are somehow performing a tantrum.

Sort of shows you where some people are coming from.

like it you can leave and post elsewhere. they aren't gay so all they see is disloyalty to Obama and the party and this disrupts and frazzles the sensibilities of the party/Obama loyalists who come here to escape all of that. :crazy: Plus you have the gays (or people who camp out in this forum claiming to be gay) who put Obama adoration over their own personal dignity which is essentially required of us if we want to remain. :shrug:

When someone masqueraded as an "LGBTer of color" got busted wide open for it, and zero was done about him. He's still around trolling LGBT topics. I mean, when the fake gays are given high deference while the actual ones are warned to death about trying to combat bigotry, you sort of know precisely where you stand.

Do you want to hear something really discouraging? There was a topic posted in GD Saturday or thereabouts asking if one should call out bigotry, or ignore it.

The "y'all faggots" poster was the FIRST to respond to it, saying, in effect, HELL YEAH, call 'em out!

I couldn't let that stand, so I replied to him. I was pointed but not disruptive.

A straight person with a rainbow avatar (!) proclaimed that she was going to alert....on ME, even after being made aware that this same person was posting faggot shit in our forum. Reported ME. And his post stayed and mine was deleted.

HELL YEAH, call 'em out, unless they're fag bashers. I'm sorry but this really pisses me off.
