In order to repeal the equal marriage rights law the biggots in Maine must gather 55,087 signatures. Here's the catch, before early August. Do you all think it's plausible they may not gather enough signatures?

Also, if the peoples veto is voted in the affirmative can't the legislature just vote again on equal marriage rights?

Signature gathering is very easy to do here, and very common.

Plus Mainers are very political. We LOVE to sign initiatives.

And yes, the legislature could vote for a law that is opposite than what was on a ballot initiative. It happens. Sometimes we just go round and round on a topic with initiatives repealing other initiatives repealing laws passed by the legislature which repeal initiatives.
