UK Gay Leaders Receive Death Threats From Muslim Fundamentalists

A British LGBT civil rights group says its leaders have received death threats from Muslim fundamentalists and warns that gay clubs could be targets for terrorist bombers.

"Gay venues could be bombed by Islamic terrorists," OutRage said Monday. "All gay bars and clubs should introduce bag and body searches. Muslim fundamentalists have a violent hatred of lesbians and gay men. They believe we should be killed. Our community could be their next target. This is no time for complacency."

The warning comes in the wake of this months terrorist attack in London. (story) More than 50 people died in the bombings that authorities say were the work of Islamic militants.

2. While individual Muslims have my sympathy and respect....

they also need to make their leaders know that this does not help them in their desire to seek compassion and tolerance for themselves.

Ayatollah, Day 1: "We demand tolerance and equal rights for Muslims."

Ayatollah, Day 2: "Muslims should kill gays."

Muslims, Day 3: "Hey, Ayotolah... you're not doing us any favors."

What their leaders are doing is placing them in harm's way and alienating the only people who are really on their side-- Liberals.

The conservatives already hate Gays and Muslims.

Just because some muslim is saying, "we hate gays," does not mean that conservatives will suddenly become their best buddies.

3. Who are these fundamentalists posing as police, journalists,

representatives of the Muslim Council? Are they police, journalists and representatives of the Muslim Council posing as fundamentalists?

This story seems strange to me, and I question it. Why all of a sudden are these threats being made? Who is behind this really? "Islamic militants" and "Muslim fundamentalists" is a little too vague for me.

Bag and body searches in gay bars? Who is calling for this? Who is trying to instill fear in the gay community? So-called fundamentalists or this group OutRage?

At any rate, if some group of religious fanatics threatens my people their asses will be threatened right back, force used when necessary.

4. One of the people being threatened is a friend of mine

And his life is frightening right now.

There have been indications of a link between the threats and other violence against gay people committed by extremist Muslim groups here in Britain. I cannot say any more right now but he is bringing this to the attention of the appropriate authorities.

Fucking jerks! Don't they realize that the majority of queers (the world over) tend to lean to the left politically. And it is the majority of the left (the world over) that do not support the war in Iraq?

Why do they hate us? Is it because we show people what true love is all about?

6. It's not about the War in Iraq

It's about finding excuses for their urge to kill and get "glory" for themselves.

If it wasn't Iraq, it would be about something else. They just dredge up excuses to construct a semi-coherent "logic" to their fractured ideology.
