2. It's not about what the court thought.
The decision was about whether or not Prop 8 constituted a legally applied revision to the CA constitution. Remember, this was the same court that struck down the original gay marriage ban in the first place.

9. So they said that taking away civil rights was all legal and everything?
I guess I don't understand the nuances of this. I"m just angry and upset.

10. It's legal if, in CA, a majority-approved amendment says it's so.
Which is, if nothing else, a cautionary tale about the danger and idiocy of allowing your constitution to be amended by 50% plus one.

12. But if they can rip our rights away on a whim,
Why can't we do the same to them? Take advantage of the same flawed, fucked up system they did?

Let's vote their rights away just because we don't like them!

4. Me too
I wasn't surprised but it still pisses me off. I think if I was in California I'd be collecting signatures for a new ballot initiative. It should be overturned by a new, smarter campaign, that didn't anticipate victory before the fundies started to fund a massive lie campaign.

8. Why they cannot see the simplicity of this amazes me.
Too many people have waited too long for this---and there should be nothing to wait for. I am sorry xchrom.

11. I'm sorry, too, xchrom.
 Shit like this is why I married in Canada and plan to emigrate when I am able. I am tired of our government, be it state or national, rolling over on their backs whenever the religious wrong starts its bullshit. Prop H8 should have been struck down...no doubt about it. It was passed because of lies, but of course, if you are monotheistic, I guess the end justifies the means.
