We're working hard to get same-gender marriage passed in New Jersey before the end of 2009. Just this past Saturday at Garden State Equality's Legend's Dinner, Governor Corzine once again pledged to sign a Marriage Equality bill. But we still don't have enough support from our Legislature.
Right now, we have enough votes in the Assembly (41), but we need 21 votes in the Senate. We currently have about 18 or 19 votes, and some of them are soft supporters.
On Sunday, March 8th from 2-5pm, we'll be writing letters, calling our Legislators and brainstorming what we can do as a community to put more pressure on the Legislature.
If you live in South Jersey or have family, friends or know of marriage equality supporters that live in South Jersey, please encourage them to come join us on Sunday at our second Action Fair.
Location:
UU Church in Cherry Hill 401 Kings Highway North Cherry Hill, NJ 08034
Even if you can't make it this Sunday, we have many more events planned, so don't hesitate to contact me if you're interested in volunteering or attending other events.
