My apology for my reactionary response to Warren's speech.
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 08:26 PM by Mike 03
I feel that I owe this community an apology for spouting off, in another thread, because I had found nothing offensive about what Warren said yesterday, and saying that he sounded "inclusive". The fact of the matter is that I have never seen or heard the guy before yesterday, so my reaction was based on complete ignorance of his true feelings and things he had said or written in the past about the GLBT community.

This was a grave error on my part. I should have just trusted what you were all saying.

Anyone who could say or write some of the things he has apparently said and written to the GLBT community, or ever influenced or otherwise provoked ANYONE of another sexual orientation to harm his or herself, that notion is so repulsive to me that I completely retract everything I said about him. If he has harmed people in this community, that is shameful and I don't respect or foregive him for this.

My apologies for even believing anything he said yesterday. You were right all along.

This was an important lesson to me about when it is appropriate to just SHUT THE FUCK UP.

1. Warren's what's known as a "divisive figure"...
...let me do the math.

I'm straight.

I'm a Christian.

I think Warren is a pig, a "false prophet." I thought his book sucked ass, and I think he could very well be the AntiChrist.

Warren stirs emotions, and he...unfortunately...leads the less-educated among us to believe that he speaks for "all" Christians.

Your post proves that you reject that.

I'm a Christian, and I have no intention of apologizing for that...just as I don't seek "apologies" from those who do not share my beliefs.

I'm also not on a "recruitment drive." I buck that trend by saying every man and woman who wants to follow Christ is free to do so, and every one that doesn't has my blessing (and lack of judgment).

I've yet to find holes in that logic.

:patriot:

2. Nah, I think people understand, but Warren's prayer was just "blah".
Not even worth a post. I turned my back on him at home. Not much of a protest, but I could have saved the energy. No one will remember his prayer. It was probably the most soulless part of the inaugural. Rev. Lowry's prayer more than made up for it.

3. Mike- you are one heck of a good egg.
A real stand up guy.

I am glad we are on the same team.
