Michele's dress.?.
It fit well, a lovely dress, great design, nice color, but even with my large screen lcd hdtv , I kept seeing Chenille, Did It have puffs all over it? I don;t want to criticize, it could be my eyes

1. It's growing on me the more I see of it.
At first, I thought it looked like a chenille bedspread, although she looked great in the color. My partner thought the shoulder strap was too Wilma Flintstone and reminded him of Nancy Reagan (a really unfortunate association).

2. It had beaded flowers on it - quite lovely up close and probably in person.

Unfortunately, it was difficult to see the detail on TV, even HDTV. :hi:

I loved it.

3. ivory, one-shouldered dress embellished with Swarovski crystals and fabric petals.
I found this on the MTV website. I was curious too.

4. I'm guessing it was gorgeous up close
but didn't translate that well on TV. I remember visiting an exhibit of Princess Diana's dresses, and when you get up close and look at the fabric on these dresses, it is something! I do wish she'd worn something colorful, but on the other hand, white is the color of renewal and rebirth, and it was just fine.

5. I must beg to differ. I thought the dress was awful.
It reminded me of my grandmother's chenille bedspread. I also hated the gold outfit. Michelle needs to get better designers. She is a beautiful woman, rather tall and big boned and she can look stunning in everything she wears. I thought these two choices bad.

7. I couldn't see the detail, so I can't comment on the surface
I loved the color and hated the cut. The asymmetry looked clumsy to me.

This was the designer's fault. The First Lady will look regal no matter what she wears.

12. Definitely a designer fault. She needs to get a better one
and stick with them.

9. I agree with you...

for me both dresses were not the right choice. The Gold one made her look very wide.. it was not complimentary to her stature IMO. The white dress looked like the strap was an afterthought and came across, to me, as a big old diaper strap.

She is absolutely stunning however, no matter what she wears:)

I love Jill Bidens red one:)

13. She should've been wearing the dress Jill Biden wore.
Reds and blacks are great on Michelle. The gold number was old and dowdy. But gawd did you see Hillary's? I about fell out of my chair - she looked like she was wearing her grandmother's bathrobe it was simply TERRIBLE. Is she trying to strike Margaret Thatcher look?

18. Hillary always looks terrible to me... her clothing choices are among the worst IMO
and I agree too on the red and black dresses for Michelle - she would look smashing in either one or even a little black dress with a modestly fitted red coat over top:)

20. white or ivory is a kind of tradition for the inaugural ball
and the First Lady.

more she picked a very young american dsigner for her ball gown.

and the colour was magnificent on her.

though i was not a fan of the cut.

for the swearing in -- i wish she had gone with a chanel.

10. I didn't care for that poofy dress.
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 05:00 PM by Sequoia
Or that strap. I'm guessing a man designed it. She is a very elegant lady and looked uncomfortable in that bedspread. I thought a gown in the 1940s style would look fine on her and wearing long gloves.

14. I thought she looked uncomfortable in it too - and possibly why
Barack made his lovely compliment to her, to put her to ease (what a guy). But the dress was a disaster.

16. "Does this dress make me look fat"
She asked her husband in the limo.

"No, dear, you look ma-a-avalous!" he said with a wink.

"You're just saying that to make me feel better. I look like a bird."

17. OMG JeanGrey, thank you for that confirmation! I thought I was the only one.
At least on DU. I asked my girlfriend, who was there, what colour that outfit was that she wore to the Inaugural because I couldn't really tell as it seemed to change colour depending on what the camera angle was and she said that it reminded her of "Puce Green" and that it was revolting on her. I HATED THAT COLOUR ON HER. The silhouette was great on her BUT the colour was AWFUL. I despised that gown as it looked frumpish on her to me. I thought that she could have done MUCH better with her choices. I'm black though a different hue than she is and a bit lighter in tone. I thought that there were such a range of tones she could have chosen that would have complemented her so much more.

15. Loved the mustard ensemble. The gown was only OK.
The gown had too much going on. The inauguration outfit was wonderful. I liked, the color, fabric, and style.

and she's one of the few people who can wear that color really well.

I'm not normally one to notice dresses too much, but I liked the color of it and she looked so pretty.

23. I didn't care for either of the dresses
And those green gloves? I am not fashion designer by any means. Levi's and a T-Shirt for me. But I thought she should have had a dress like Jill Bidens. She and Barack were tripping over it all night. And she must have been freezing during the Inauguration.
