would certainly love to try, just like religious men in all sorts of religions would love to be able to vote women off the island.

My own suggestion is that gays, women, people of color, and everybody else outside of the entitled group of wealthy and/or powerful white males take the mainland and leave them the island.

but, the island I'm thinking of is smaller. Quite small. There is no available mainland apparent.

If so then what's to prevent me from accusing a straight person of being gay to get them off the island?

They should use their vote wisely. Some of know how to survive, and will, at all costs.
