12. Yup.
The shit stirring seems to be at an all-time-high tonight. For people that claim to want to bask in this weekend's celebration, they make sure to find time to kick us around, don't they?

3. Robinson's invocation was not broadcast, or even acknowledged.
The microphones weren't even on.

Me neither.

11. Well, the singer's microphone was dead for the first part of the national anthem.
Again, has anyone checked for sure that CNN/MSNBC didn't have it? I would expect they'd have been hovering and watching well in advance of the 2:30 hour when HBO went live with it.

4. Rev. Robinson gave the opening prayer to the Inaugural Concert today.
Before the cameras were live and before the mics were on. No one heard it it or saw it.

6. Well, fuck all.............
That's shocking. I had no idea he was delivering the invocation at the concert, and that's just my own carelessness.

Fuck HBO. I'm glad I'm not a subscriber.

That's just so awful. What on earth were they thinking?

Every gay in the US who has HBO on cable ought to cancel it right now, and make sure the provider knows why.

Jesus, that sucks. So does HBO.

14. It appears that the fault was the organizers and not HBO
the invocation was scheduled 10 minutes before the HBO coverage started.

22. A Statement from HBO on the Robinson exclusion
Contacted Sunday night by AfterElton.com concerning the exclusion of Robinson's prayer, HBO said via email, "The producer of the concert has said that the Presidential Inaugural Committee made the decision to keep the invocation as part of the pre-show." Uncertain as to whether or not that meant that HBO was contractually prevented from airing the pre-show, we followed up, but none of the spokespeople available Sunday night could answer that question with absolute certainty. However, it does seem that the network's position is that they had nothing to do with the decision.

25. Many events have pre-shows
which involve many events that don't make it to air.

27. Yeah, but it seems as if Robinson
was thrown in at the last moment to atone for Warren - but the organizers/Obama didn't think far enough ahead to bump the concert time back - or to realize that this would be one more slap to the GLBT constituents.

We don't have any cable or satellite. I didn't even try to watch it on my computer but I had hoped to see someone post a video of his prayer.

19. Of course he even twisted the original complaint and even got (1) rec
the complaint was the Robinson was a last minute invite and this seems to confirm that, the cameras and coverage were not even synchronized to the prayer and of course we all know, there was no coverage.

I guess excluding GLBTQ is just fucking hilarious.

16. My guess is that the Robinson invocation was an afterthought
to assuage the restless left. I really missed hearing Robinson. I hope someone taped it and will put it on YouTube. (And that some DUer will post it here.) Robinson's prayer would lend itself to e-mailing.

20. Yeah, The Whole Thing Sucks....
but I am not all that surprised. It's just interesting that the equipment fouled up so, erm, conveniently for the homophobes.

For those who haven't seen the video, here is a link to a video of the event over at Queers United:

&sk=oupNIhPFNaDYRSUsGSanz0MixzzaSuYVC&use_get_video_info=1&load_modules=1&fs=1&feature=player_embedded&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en

And here is the tape of Bishop Robinson's prayer:

"Welcome to Washington! The fun is about to begin, but first, please join me in pausing for a moment, to ask God’s blessing upon our nation and our next president.

O God of our many understandings, we pray that you will…

Bless us with tears – for a world in which over a billion people exist on less than a dollar a day, where young women from many lands are beaten and raped for wanting an education, and thousands die daily from malnutrition, malaria, and AIDS.

Bless us with anger – at discrimination, at home and abroad, against refugees and immigrants, women, people of color, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Bless us with discomfort – at the easy, simplistic “answers” we’ve preferred to hear from our politicians, instead of the truth, about ourselves and the world, which we need to face if we are going to rise to the challenges of the future.

Bless us with patience – and the knowledge that none of what ails us will be “fixed” anytime soon, and the understanding that our new president is a human being, not a messiah.

Bless us with humility – open to understanding that our own needs must always be balanced with those of the world.

Bless us with freedom from mere tolerance – replacing it with a genuine respect and warm embrace of our differences, and an understanding that in our diversity, we are stronger.

Bless us with compassion and generosity – remembering that every religion’s God judges us by the way we care for the most vulnerable in the human community, whether across town or across the world.

And God, we give you thanks for your child Barack, as he assumes the office of President of the United States.

Give him wisdom beyond his years, and inspire him with Lincoln’s reconciling leadership style, President Kennedy’s ability to enlist our best efforts, and Dr. King’s dream of a nation for ALL the people.

Give him a quiet heart, for our Ship of State needs a steady, calm captain in these times.

Give him stirring words, for we will need to be inspired and motivated to make the personal and common sacrifices necessary to facing the challenges ahead.

Make him color-blind, reminding him of his own words that under his leadership, there will be neither red nor blue states, but the United States.

Help him remember his own oppression as a minority, drawing on that experience of discrimination, that he might seek to change the lives of those who are still its victims.

Give him the strength to find family time and privacy, and help him remember that even though he is president, a father only gets one shot at his daughters’ childhoods.

And please, God, keep him safe. We know we ask too much of our presidents, and we’re asking FAR too much of this one. We know the risk he and his wife are taking for all of us, and we implore you, O good and great God, to keep him safe. Hold him in the palm of your hand – that he might do the work we have called him to do, that he might find joy in this impossible calling, and that in the end, he might lead us as a nation to a place of integrity, prosperity and peace.

AMEN."

29. That is the inaugural invocation. It is classic. It will live on long after
Warren and his words have been consigned to the dust heap of history.

Glad I did, 42" LCDs are pretty expensive to replace once you've thrown shoes at them.
