I'm very excited. I just scheduled my first same-sex wedding!
I'll be marrying two women in May. No, it won't be legal according to the state. But these two women will have the blessing of their faith community. I'm proud to be able to officiate.

I'm excited to do any wedding. They're such special moments. This one is even more special!

6. It'll should be a really nice service. These women are creative
and deeply in love.

But yeah, I wish I could sign a license afterwards.

14. You're marrying two women?
Isn't that bigamy?

:evilgrin::hide:

In all seriousness, congratulations. I trust it will hardly be your last same-sex wedding ceremony.

18. What denomination?
I am just wondering, because I am Episcopalian and I know that we have same sex blessings in our diocese which is the Diocese of Washington as in Washington DC and part of Maryland. They always have a large blessing ceremony during Gay Pride Week. Ofcourse, many in the Anglican Communion think that we have turned our backs on the bible. At the Lambeth conference, in the closing statement they asked the US and Canada to establish a moratorium on same-sex blessings. Both Bishop Chane of my diosese and Bishop Bruno of California have stated that they have no intentions of stopping the blessings. He also has said that priests don't need his permission to bless a same sex couple. He trusts the clergy to recognize a committed relationship and bestow a holy blessing on the couple.

19. United Church of Christ.
Our General Synod officially voted in support of marriage equality in 2005, but because of our polity, which stresses congregational autonomy, some churches have been doing it well before that. Two friends of mine were married in a UCC church in Oak Park, IL in 1999. I've been willing to do weddings all along. Agreed to do one a year and a half ago, but the couple didn't follow through. So, this is my first. It actually may end up being my second to be done, because there's another couple in the church who also want to be married this spring, but are waiting to see how one of their parent's health is before setting a date. That date may be in March or April.

20. It's a nice feeling, isn't it?
I had a business as a Celebrant for three years, doing non-religious weddings and other ceremonies. Of the 23 weddings I did during that time, two were for same-sex couples. I wish they had been legal marriages, but the other folks involved were happy.
