Hey guys.
I just want to thank the people in this forum for opening my eyes about the Rick Warren issue. Since the beginning, I wasn't thrilled with Obama choosing Warren, but I didn't really see it as that big of a deal. I was one of the people who thought "Eh, it's a two minute prayer, so what?"

During the last week of debate I've really come to a much better understanding of how this choice is disgraceful and very hurtful to the gay community. Because of posters on this forum, I now see this as a civil rights issue similiar to the struggle of black Americans. It's also made me realize how Obama really seems to be behind the curve on issues of gay rights. I hope the progressive and GLBTQ community continues to hold his feet to the fire on this issue.

Thank you.

3. Obama views ministers superficially & didn't realize the vitriolic homophobia Warren preaches IMHO
He is behind the ball when it comes to gay marriage and of course with Warren, but I think that comes from being more focussed on other issues. I think must present our issues in an intelligent, logical, practical and constitutional way to him and that will get his attention. I believe he cares and will get us our rights. I predict full marriage rights under the name marriage around 2014, half way through his 2nd term.

5. In his own words
"I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian, it's also a sacred union. God's in the mix."
