http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/04/042605nzUnions.htm

A new law allowing civil unions for same-sex couples in New Zealand has not led to the expected rush to register.

The law, which also allows non gay couples who live together but do not want to marry to register, went into effect today.

Des Smith and John Joliff have been together for 19 years are expected to be among the first in line at the Internal Affairs office to apply for their license.
