Could you not have found someone who was Christian, an open loving Christian, to speak instead of a hatemongering homophobic, anti-woman, extremist? When will you ask the right wing to bend a little? So far all the "give" has been required from the progressive liberals. This was a very disappointing choice. But you will have gays in the parade, so all is ok - right? btw - I am a happily married straight woman who believes in equality for all. I remember Jim Crow, too bad you don't or maybe you wouldn't be so quick to choose a man who describes GLBT people as promiscuous slime equal to pedophiles. Do you plan to invite David Duke so as to include the racists also?

on edit - the ref to Jim Crow is because I remember the injustice of the early 1960's. It seems to me that gay 2008 is the new "negro" from 1960.

Equal rights for all. Is there a more basic American Civil Right? Work towards making sure our GLBT citizens are granted equal rights and equal protections under the law. Remember that it was only a short while ago when the relationship Obama's own parents would have been forbidden, and their marriage illegal. I ask again - what is a more basic Civil Right than full equality for all citizens regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation?
