A 'special' request
from my daughter, a student of special ed at WVU.

'Children with special needs don't have an illness, so there is no cure and it's not contagious. They want what we all want - to be accepted. Most of you probably won't copy and paste this, but will you do it and leave it on your {facebook} status for at least an hour? It's special education week, and this is in honor of all the kids who need a little extra help and understanding.'

1. Recommended.
I'd like to add a special thank you to the many people who have offered friendship, a helping hand, and acceptance of kids with special needs. As the parent of an 18 year old with autism, I can't begin to tell you how much a simple act of kindness means to kids like mine.

3. At my school, all of our students have special needs.
We love our special ed teacher and her parapro. I don't know what we'd do without them. Please ask your daughter to consider teaching in an alternative high school. We need the good ones there. *hug*

4. Thanks, knitter.
Her 'specialty' is little kids/early childhood. Will tell her you asked, tho!

6. We need that, too.
Still, there are so few who want to work with the older kids in comparison. We need all the good secondary ed people we can get.
