David Cook on American Idol tonight thanked his elementary music teacher!
My wife is finishing her 31st year of teaching elementary school next week. She has five college degrees and obviously doesn't do what she does for the money. When I interviewed for a job I was once asked what my biggest influence would be...and I honestly told the interviewer it would be moving my wife to the local school system.

Florida school districts and colleges are facing layoffs because of the GOP tax breaks and exemptions while the millionaires build bigger mansions and sports stadiums and bridges to nowhere. My wife often buys classroom items with her own money. Once we donated a box of paper to the copy room.

Even a 20-something rock and roll singer in a tv contest knows more than the idiots that occupy the White House and Tallahassee capitol. Florida Governor Crist is busy flying around in the private jet that Jeb bought with our dollars while education is reduced to a starvation budget.

Thank a teacher if you get a chance. They deserve it! I'm voting for David Cook on next week's American Idol no matter how well he sings!

2. That was a really touching scene. BTW--public school employee here and I got my lay off this year.
Thank you millionaires. As a Social Worker my kids really appreciate no longer having me to talk to them, walk with them in trouble, help them get the services they need that you deny they need. The next time a kid who is being beaten at home shows up dead---you can hug your tax deductions.

5. I really sorry to hear about your lay off. Been there!
I went to lunch with an educator friend today. She was "let go", but she found a job in Texas and is moving. The best thing to do is get rid of the idiots who are creating this mess. A dozen of us at lunch were soooo sorry to see such a good person leaving.
