Az's Prop 203- medical marijuana - would not have passed without the Conservative vote.

The Proposition was declared defeated on Nov 4th. Then the absentee ballots were counted. Many senior citizens and stay at homes voted absentee. I was one of them. Many of them also live with pain. I am one of them.

We all know Arizona is one of the most conservative states in the Union but luckily, in this case, pain won out over right-wing politics.

If Arizona can do it, so can the remaining 35 states currently without medical marijuana.

3. Thanks RainDog - that is a great idea, but not for me. I doubt if I will ever use Med-Mari for
personal reasons. I hope those cortisone shots keep limiting the pain.

One of the major reasons I was pushing Prop 203 was to limit the income and influence of the Mexican drug cartels.

Hopefully, someone else can pick up your theme for it is a good one.

It's time.

I'm moving from a legal MMJ state to a backwards state at the end of the month. The fact that it will be instantly illegal for me to medicate with cannabis is mind blowing. Unfortunately I might have to use that reason as my defense some day.

4. The first time it
passed in AZ was in 1996 - the same year CA passed it. But the law said people had to have a prescription and the legislature responded by passed a law that said that AZ licensed MD could prescribe MJ until the FDA approved it (they also overturned other prison sentencing provisions of the same prop that passed). AZ voters responded by passing a law that bars the legislature from altering initiatives passed by the voters for 2 years after they are passed. In 2002 they tried to legalize MJ completely but that failed.

The new law allows people to use it if an MD recommends it.

There is a strong libertarian streak in conservative AZ voters and I also think that there is a lot of left over wild west "loco weed" supporters - not enough to completely legalize it but enough to pass medical MJ.

5. People underestimate Arizonans
There are far more conservative states, and even the conservatives aren't as batshit crazy as those in other states. You can actually put a left-leaning bumper sticker on your car, without having to worry about getting run off the road, or your car being vandalized.

Where I live, and I don't dare mention where this is, I literally fear that people would torch my house if they knew I was a Democrat.

I'm not exaggerating.
