Poll question: Who's gonna win the Women's Big East Hoops Tourney!
It's started already--BC is getting beat early by underdog Villanova. I've posted by seeds (the top 4)--I would go with UCONN or Notre Dame.

1. ND, if we can get past UConn today
I was shocked to see UConn as the #3 seed in the conference, as I don't think I've ever seen them that low in the nation prior to this year. ND is built for a tournament run, with a superstar wing (Batteast), solid guards (Duffy,Gray), good post players (Borton, LaVere), and great depth (Allen, Erwin, Gaines). They've also played a tough schedule, with OOC wins over Duke, tOSU, and Purdue in addition to the Big East. The big 2 (UConn and UT) don't look as dominant as they have in the past, which should help teams like ND, Duke, LSU, etc.

2. The past couple years everyone's written UCONN off...they faded
during the Big East Tourney, and then they ended up winnign it all. Still, this year there's more parity. I think whoever wins today's UCONN-ND match-up will beat Rutgers in the championship game (they should handle Villanova easily). I don't think Duke will win it all--they should have last year, and without Alana Beard, they just don't have "it." Tenn does well in the tourney, no matter how medicore they are all season. As for LSU, losing yesterday to Tenn was not a good sign--they probably are the best team in the country, but they, like Duke, seem to be lacking "it." ND has shown it has "it" throughout the season, although sporadically--they might just win their second one this year.

3. Ouch
I did not expect that thumping. Hopefully we can regroup for the big dance. I'm hoping this doesn't hurt our seeding too badly - after all we did beat Duke, tOSU, UConn, and Rutgers. Like you said, we'll need to be much more consistent, but the talent and experience are easily more than enough.

4. In a way, it shouldn't be that expected...UCONN really lost Diana T.
last year, and they have a lot of talented players, and throughout the year have not played as well as they are capable of. Maybe they're finally putting it all together.

Like you, I'm hoping for a good seed--I really hope they don't stick ND and UCONN and Rugers anywhere near each other in the brackets--none of these should play each other until the Final Four.

5. Good points
Diana T. was definitely a once in a generation player for them, and it's hard to replace her no matter how good the rest of their talent is. I think we'll end up a #3-4 seed. The men also have some rule about how conference teams cannot meet up prior to the Sweet 16, but I'm not sure if the women have the same thing. I'd also guess that the UConn-RU winner will get a #1, the loser will get a #2 in a different group, and hopefully ND will get in a third bracket.

6. I don't think UCONN or Rutgers will get a #1 seed--the Pat-Summitt's-
butt kissing committee will give a #1 each to Tennesee and to LSU. There really is an anti-Big East bias by those schmucks. My guess is ND will get a #3--and if UCONN loses, they'll get a #3 also, and Rutgers gets a #2. All three should get #2 seeds--the Big East is clearly the best in both men's and women's this year.

7. Well, the Irish look pretty good in comparison to Rutgers!
Geesh, it was over before it began! Like I said, UCONN looks like they're putting it all together.

A #2 seed for both UCONN and ND, I says!

9. Hey, no fair! They already won 36 hours ago!
But if you mean the NCAA--quite frankly, if they play like they did in the Big East tournament, I can't see anyone beating them.

11. That's what I figured...I would think UCONN Men are favored
now that BC is out.

13. And it looks like Villanova is gonna beat Pitt, so if UCONN plays
as well as they're capable, I can't see them NOT taking the Big East title--they are peaking at the right time.
