The great power hitter Andres Galarraga, who still owns the longest home run hit by a right-hander at China Basin, attended Saturday's game and relayed some good news about his health. He remains cancer-free.
Galarraga also offered hope to Giants fans who want to see more power, declaring that countryman Pablo Sandoval will start hitting more home runs, and soon, as he gets more comfortable being an everyday player in the majors.
"No doubt he's going to hit a lot of home runs in the next couple of years," Galarraga said. "Also, this year, I believe, in the second half he's going to hit more home runs."
"He's a great hitter," the Big Cat said. "The best thing about him is that he's so natural. He can swing high, low, out, at inside pitches. He makes contact and hits it hard. He reminds me a lot of Vladimir Guerrero. Those hitters can make it tough for the pitchers, because the pitchers don't know how to throw to those guys. Whatever they throw, they make contact."
