BOSTON - The FleetCenter has a new name: TD Banknorth Garden. The bank reached a 20-year deal with arena owner Delaware North Cos. to put its name on the home of the Boston Celtics (news) and Boston Bruins (news), the companies announced Thursday.

1. Couldn't they throw the word "Boston" in there somehow?
I'd rather almost not have the "garden" part in there otherwise. I find it insulting.

Then again, I feel like there was only one Boston Garden and it was torn down.

6. Don't forget the smell.
That's the thing I remember most about being there as a kid (many many many years ago) - the smell once you entered the curvy tunelly thing after north station. Must have been all the sweaty athletes, huh?

7. yea - and the floors were always wet....
just creeped me out!

Since we now all reside in the Corporate States of America, there is no way that any corporation is going to bypass advertising itself on any surface available.

At least we can go BACK to calling it

THE GAHDEN!

8. You Ever Take The T?
Past the Garden when they were tearing it down? I'd ride by there on the way to the Galleria and just stare into the gaping maw that was once the Garden, seats on the far side still there. Wicked Bizah!

10. The 'El' is gone?
I guess they put it underground for the big dig eh? That's hard to imagine.

I always liked that part of the ride, cause you had something to look at out the windows. Might be less of an eyesore but there was something cool about taking the T to North Station for a game, and getting out and there was the garden, and then the fleet center, and you'd go down the stairs, and the el was above the road...etc..etc...

Ah well...progress I guess.
