Mighty 49ers make bold move: Sign new quarterback...
Damon Huard...

S.F. Chronicle, 3-5-09:

The 49ers seem to have the three quarterbacks they will head into training camp with this summer after they signed free agent Damon Huard on Wednesday.

Now that their one-day dalliance with Kurt Warner is over as the two-time NFL most valuable player re-upped with the Cardinals, the 49ers seem committed to Shaun Hill and Alex Smith battling it out for the starting job in training camp.

<snip>

Huard, a free agent who was with the Chiefs the last five seasons, will be 36 when training camp begins.

In 12 NFL seasons with Kansas City (2004-08), New England (2001-03) and Miami (1997-2000), Huard has played in 64 games and started 27, throwing 33 touchdown passes and 26 interceptions. Last season with the Chiefs, he played in five games and completed 50 of 81 passes for 477 yards and two touchdowns, with four interceptions.

2. As an average QB, he should fit in well in SF.

8. Despite the fact that few support them
the Yorks have made it clear they're not going to sell the team anytime in the foreseeable future.

Heck, Carmen Policy has said he could put together an ownership group, same with Brent Jones and Steve Young.

49er fans just have make do..

9. I made do with inept Cleveland Indians ownership for 20 years...
1966-1986. I can't go through that again.
