Nine Wolverines in the Super Bowl!!!
Two coaches, seven players

"Nine former players or assistant coaches from the U- M football program will compete in Super Bowl XLIII. The NFL's championship game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals is Sunday, February 1, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Wolverines on the Steelers' roster are linebackers Larry Foote and LaMarr Woodley and former Wolverine player and graduate assistant coach and current Steelers assistant offensive line coach Harold Goodwin. Wide receiver Steve Breaston, defensive tackle Gabe Watson, defensive end Alan Branch, tight end Jerame Tuman, linebacker Victor Hobson and defensive backs coach Teryl Austin will be on the Cardinals' side. The game will be broadcast by NBC at 6 p.m." (Source: Alumni Magazine).

OK, SEC, watcha got? Seven players from any one team?

What does that have to do with what I posted, or are you just a Michigan hater? There's usually one in every crowd.

3. Actually, I dislike all Big Ten football
not just Michigan. The Big Ten's pathetic bowl season record demonstrated once again that, while there are some fine individual players, it's time among the elite conferences of college football is over.

BTW, The SEC had 259 of its former players on the 2008 NFL opening weekend active rosters, leading all conferences.

5. I just thought it was kind of cool that there were that many Michigan players
Lloyd Carr's players have done exceptionally well in the pros. He was my favorite coach of all time (excepting my father and brother, of course!) and I miss him a lot. He was such a gentleman. I remember when we beat Alabama in a bowl game one year (Lloyd always did well against the SEC) when they missed an extra point kick in OT, Carr went into their lockerroom after the game to tell them what a great game it was and how it was a shame they had to lose that way. He did the same one year when Washington lost to Michigan on a last-second field goal after Washington had committed a penalty.

Even if the Big Ten doesn't win all their bowl games, big whoop, it's a hell of a lot of fun to go to a Big Ten football game! Nothing like it!

6. I remember that game against the Huskies
That was a 12 men on the field penalty...people back here were none too thrilled with Rick Neuheisel.

9. I was AT that game!
There were two people from Washington in front of us, two very, very nice men (the nicest Husky fans I've ever met; I live in Seattle). I was glad that we'd had such an amiable time with them when we thought we were going to lose - when the tables turned, they turned around and gave us hugs. I felt kind of bad for them.

14. Oh for God's sake
How, HOW does this have ANYTHING to do with Ohio State? We all know the record, okay? Just as we all knew it when John Cooper was coaching OSU. There are seven Michigan players in the Super Bowl, that's what this thread is about. Save your vitriol for the college season, if you must spew it at all.

Just once, I'd like to see an Ohio State fan say "Wow, that's great for the Big Ten" instead of the same tired comments. The depth of the hatred in Columbus never ceases to amaze me. I've lived in Ann Arbor for 28 years and it's not like that here at all. Maybe in the weeks leading up to the game but not year-round. Why do you hate us so much? Ohio won the Michigan-Ohio war; you got Toledo just like you wanted.

17. Iowa rocks!
My SO and I went to a sports bar once to watch Michigan-Iowa and due to the setup of the place, had to watch in a room with a bunch of Iowa fans who were in town for a wedding. They couldn't have been nicer, and on top of everything else, the bride's father bought a pitcher of beer for us, "Hell, I'll buy a pitcher for my friends from Michigan!" I've never forgotten that. Michigan won the game and they were still nice to us!

24. My wife happens to work for the Uof I.
She's a conference coordinator. Sets up itineraries for visiting groups. Which means she supplies them with football tickets. If she's notified early enough, she can put some aside.

Here is an Ohio State fan that loves the Big Ten Conference and roots for the Big Ten ticket every bowl season...even the Blue. I have posted this fact several times in previous postings.

In fact, I was very proud of the Blue when Henne willed the last victory for Carr (who was a gentleman in addition to being a coach, unlike Dick-Rod) against "Jesus" Teblow and the classless Urban Meier (don't bother responding Gator fan; see: rolling up 55 against the Citidel).

As for the trash talk, that is what The Game is about, no need to apologize for that.
