Who is your biggest sports jerk of 08?
Or in the lingo of this forum, biggest fuckstick?
I would like to nominate one Terrell Owens, whiner extraordinaire. I don't like Dallas or Jerry Jones, but TO's egomania is once again in the process of destroying a football team.
I'm thinking that Bill Parcells is laughing his head off in Miami getting away from "the player" and the circus that is the Dallas Cowboys...

17. John Daly suspended for 6 months by PGA Tour
<snip>

http://images.theage.com.au/ftage/ffximage/2008/10/30/daly_john_prison_narrowweb__300x409,0.jpg

"John Daly has been suspended for six months by the PGA Tour for conduct that brought unwelcome publicity, including a night in a North Carolina jail to sober up.

"Is it fair that I got suspended? It's not fair in reality, but it's probably fair in perception," he told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

This is the second time the tour has suspended the two-time major champion, along with at least two other times he agreed to take time off to get his life in order. The 42-year-old Daly called this the lowest point in his wild 18-year career.

He has not played on the PGA Tour since he missed the cut Oct. 17 in Las Vegas. Ten days later, police in Winston-Salem, N.C., said he appeared intoxicated outside a Hooters restaurant, and he was taken to jail to sleep it off. That led to a photo of Daly in an orange jail suit with his eyes half-open.

PGA Tour spokesman Ty Votaw declined comment, even though Daly confirmed his suspension, citing the tour's longtime policy of not discussing fines or suspensions."

25. Joey Porter
Edited on Wed Dec-31-08 10:41 PM by Upton
in November, when referring to Michael Vick's animal abuse, he attempted to downplay the incident telling reporters.."all it was was dogs" He went on to say that no one cares about Pit Bulls as a breed and Michael Vick should be left alone and be allowed to play football.

It has also been reported that Porter , who owns pit bulls, turned his dog loose on a miniature horse, who was killed by the dog.

Now that's a guy I'd be proud to have on my team. :sarcasm:

Edit: I found the story from 2006 in which two of Porter's dogs (Pit Bull and a Mastiff) killed a neighbor's miniature horse. Heck, probably in Porter's mind.. all it was was a horse.

31. So many to pick from...
You have TO, Jerry Jones, Clemens, PETA and Favre of course. Then you have Cuban Olympic Taekwondo athlete Angel Matos who kicked the referee because he didn't like a ruling, and Ara Abrahamian of Sweden who dropped his medal and walked off the stand during the ceremony over a refs ruling. I hadn't heard the Joey Porter story above but that also makes him a "worthy" candidate.

I'm surprised no one yet mentioned Al Davis, who hired his head coach's replacement while Kiffen was still the coach, later fired Kiffen and refused to pay him. I guess that would be my pick.
