CBC: With Germany beaten, Canada turns sights on U.S.
Americans have been looking forward to New Year's Eve for months

It was a warm day in August when Thomas McCollum circled Dec. 31 in his daytimer.

McCollum didn't write anything beside the date because he knew exactly what was on tap.

The United States plays Canada at the 2009 world junior hockey championship and the U.S. netminder can't think of a better way to ring in 2010 than by beating Canada on home soil in the country's capital city.

"As soon as I got to the summer camp, everybody, including me, looked at when we would play Canada," said McCollum, who plays for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League.

I haven't followed much hockey since the Oilers' glory days, but this might be one of the rare times since that I'm interested.

Go, Canada!

2. I was watching a couple games online. Good stuff, but Canada was clearly the better team.
This tourny has always been a Canadian showcase, a chance to show the world that hockey is still their sport, and they tend to kick ass at the WJC.

BTW, if you don't get the games, you mind find it online here. It's where I watched the other 2 games I saw.

4. John Tavares is on the Canada team, right?
I'll be interested in watching him. I want the Islanders to draft him next year with the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft. The guy looks like the next Gretzky/Crosby.
