Dolphins/Jets game moved to 4:15pm Next Sunday
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-dolflex122208,0,2763157.story

This makes up for the fact that NBC did not pick this game as the game of the week (almost). I work for an NBC affiliate and how wonderful it would have been to air the Dolphins/Jets game on Sunday night. I'm not sure if any of you are Broncos/Chargers fans, but you can't tell me that that game should be on versus the Dolphins/Jets.

1. I'm a 49er fan but I'd rather see the Chargers/Broncos on Sunday night
That game is for the AFC West title and a berth in the playoffs...should be an offensive shootout. Other than that you're a Dolphin fan, what makes the Jets/Dolphins game preferable?

2. You really don't know?
Let me help... This game features a team that went 1-15 last season and could go 11-5 and win the division title. Great story line there.

This too is for a Division title. If the Pats lose next Sunday against the Bills, the Jet beat Miami---the Jet's win the title.

If Miami wins, they win the title.

Last but not least.

Chad Pennington returns to New York for the first time since they kicked him to the curb in favor of old Brett.

It will be Brett against Chad for the title.

Lot's of story lines in this one compared to a Chargers, Broncos game---two teams that Miami beat this season.

How did I do?

4. I'm well aware of all that but when it gets down to it
both games are for division titles. Personally, I could care less about the story line involving Favre, Pennington and Miami's turnaround...most of that is NY and east coast bias speaking.

Of the four teams involved, San Diego is by far the most talented and has the best chance to make some noise in the playoffs.

7. Really---if they were so talented, how come Miami beat them?
and---you've failed to give me one good story line for why either the Bronco's or the Chargers should be picked over NY or the Phins?

Again---Miami beat both of these teams during regular season so--- is talent all you got?

11. Would have been a different story
had they played in San Diego. As for story lines...remember the first Charger/Bronco game involved the infamous blown call by Ed Hochuli. Still it was a great game and finished 39-38...I'll take another thriller over the Favre/Pennington soap opera any day.

14. So you do care about that story line
if you could care less about it as you so stated.

8. NBC made a bad decision
I'm sorry, there really is no excuse to air the Broncos/Chargers game. When the #1 market is playing, it needs to air. Plus Miami is a top 20 market (not to mention my market - West Palm Beach #38), so the ratings themselves will be good for them. And the ratings are the name of the game when it comes to ad revenue (something I know about).

3. This is excellent for this reason...
<snip>
The switch means that the Jets will know before they take the field whether they have a shot at the AFC East title. The Bills need to beat the Patriots in a 1 p.m. game to give the Jets a chance to win the division. The Jets will not know whether they have a shot at a wild card berth, as the Ravens are playing at the same time. <end snip>

If the Pat's beat the Bills, which I expect they will---- this will deflate the Jet's in a big way.

5. somehow, someway, I think the Jets are getting in
don't ask me why, but I seem to remember this same scenario happening in 1990 or 1991, we had to beat Miami on the last game of the season to get into the playoffs. By all rights we shouldn't have beat them, but I think we won on a field goal at the last second.

Ken O'Brien, working his magic against Dan Marino.

6. The Jets blew it
They had the chance yesterday and they blew it. Brett Favre acted like he had never seen snow before. The Dolphins (as bad as the defense was yesterday) did not falter when it really counted. They did their part and the Jets choked again. I'm OK with that. I do feel bad for the Pats (NOT). They may win 11 games and still not make the playoffs. Now that sucks!!

9. Don't count the Pats out
If they beat Buffalo, I expect the Jets to take Miami...in fact I'm counting on it. Truth be told, both the Jets and Dolphins have benefited from easy schedules.

20. Check this out...
Of Miami's 10 wins, only 2 are over teams that are currently over 500 (NE and Denver). Though their improvement is admirable, there is no question in that they are a paper tiger.

22. Dude--- the "paper tiger" beat you fuckers and you come in here puffing your chest...
like you guys are all that. Your team has to be considered one of the most underachieving NFL football teams in the last 20 years with all that supposed er, talent.

And you're talking shit?

24. Actually I'm a 49er fan
so I'm looking at this objectively. Here's more evidence supporting my "paper tiger" charge...

Miami is 8-1 against teams currently under 500, on the other hand the Dolphins are 2-4 facing clubs that are currently above 500. They have fattened their record on the weak sisters of the league, of that there is no doubt.

How can a team who won 8 out of their last 9 be trying to dodge a playoff birth?

15. The Best Game Sunday will be played in New Orleans
Panthers V Saints. Carolina trying not to drop a spot in the playoff seedings and Drew Brees attempting to catch Dan Marino's single season passing record.

19. I gives me great joy and delight that my home town Broncos will be on during prime time.
That way I can watch them lose and allow an 8 & 8 team to make it to the playoffs.

Oh, for joy!
