Just got the Big Ten Network TODAY in Seattle (Comcast)
Thank god, just before football season, so I won't have to be bored to tears by nothing but the SEC, Notre Dame, and USC.

Phew, talk about saved by the bell!

Channel 404 on the sports tier, for those who care.

1. Hm... Wonder if Broadstripe (my cable company) offers that....
I'd prolly get SEC conference if I had the choice, though.

2. You don't need a separate network for that; CBS shows a bunch of their games
Last year, when the BTN started, a huge chunk of fans were frozen out of seeing the games at all (they had formerly been on ESPN).

I am trying to provoke BOSSHOG, but it must be visiting hours at the jail where most of the Razorbacks are these days.

9. Hi Sweety
I just love your Big Ten wit. Believe it or not we get the BTN down here, Channel 610 on Directv and I didn't even ask for it. You probably will only be able to catch the SEC on ABC, NBC, CBS, FSN, ESPN, HBO. Just check your local listings. I'll be heading up to Fayetteville this weekend to visit my incarcerated Hogs while escaping Gustav at the same time. I guess that's multi-tasking. I enjoy watching Big Ten football, its like watching ESPN Classic, how football was played in the 50's and 60's.

And its not "most" of the Hogs, just a sampling.

Let the Games Begin.

4. I already got to see Notre Dame - on NBC
Sorry, I like Notre Dame. I routinely root for them to beat Michigan State, Ohio State, and (sometimes) Purdue. I always root for them to beat USC and Navy.

17. Is this the year of a Catholic Miracle??
The "Hale" Mary. The Bless Me Father for we hath sucked? The schedule looks promising, they have three Big Ten Schools on it.

18. The schedule does look promising...usually it's a killer, but
with the exception of USC as the final game, there's no powerhouse they'll be playing.

14. That Navy game last year was the worst!
It would have salvaged the season had ND won and kept the streak alive.

19. I am in the minority
But I am glad that it ended last year. Given that everything was shit it was a good time to end it and start another 50 years of dominance, now we need to start another period of dominance over USC.

5. So you have it in Seattle
And I live 50 miles from The University of Iowa and we still don't have it. Sigh.

6. Is Iowa the state that doesn't have Comcast?
I think they are working on that. I do think the BTN was a fairly bad idea, but if it weren't for college football, there would be no chance that Comcast and the network would ever have been forced to terms. I AM looking forward to seeing women's sports.

:grr:

This year we have it, though--they switched the National Geographic channel to the Big 10 Network a couple of weeks ago ...

Sorry that you still don't have it :grr:

12. National Geographic, what a laugh since they dumbed down
Last year my SO brought me home a National Geographic and a Vogue magazine, and believe it or not, the articles in Vogue were the longer ones! Granted, the stories might be something like the history of lipstick, but they are interesting to me.

13. DirectTV always had the Big Ten Network
It was Comcast that the conference wouldn't deal with. It reminded me of the fracas between MLB and the cable companies over the Extra Innings package - Arlen Spector and John Kerry actually had to step in on that one, and I took the drastic step of calling Spector's office on that one to thank him. We rent, and the option of a satellite dish is not available to us. I had many a screaming match on the phone over both of these and the woman at the Big Ten (last year) was so rude that I shouted at her and aroused the interest of people in the other offices!
