2. This is sad, the man died too young
My prayers for Gene and his family. I think his sudden death will be very bad for football. Gene worked a wonderful partnership with the NFL for all these years, which allowed the league to flourish. He was powerful enough to ignore the idiot players that think he was selling them out (I doubt there is another profession anywhere that has seen the salary increases NFL players have enjoy). I fear the next head of the union will not be able to resist those calls and the league and the union will come to a destructive impass that hurts both sides and the fans.
