Retief Goosen makes a complete ass out of himself
Goosen, a two-time U.S. Open champion himself, seemed to accuse Woods of faking the extent of the injury when he winced in pain and limped around Torrey Pines on his way to a third U.S. Open title and 14th major championship.

"I think so," Goosen said Tuesday when asked if Woods was exaggerating the severity of the injury, according to a report on the Web site of The London Times. "It just seemed that when he hit a bad shot his knee was in pain and on his good shots he wasn't in pain. You see when he made the putts and he went down on his knees and was shouting, 'Yeah,' his knee wasn't sore.

"Nobody really knows if he was just showing off or if he was really injured. I believe if he was really injured, he would not have played."

When pressed about his inflammatory comments, Goosen seemed to soften his tone, but did not retract what he said.

"I was being light-hearted," Goosen said, according to the Times. "No one but Tiger himself knows how badly hurt he was. But if he was really badly hurt, he would have withdrawn, wouldn't he?"

1. Retief who? Dumbass couldn't carry Tigers Jock.
Tiger Woods will miss the remainder of 2008 after a planned reconstructive surgery on his left knee, the golfer's management company said Wednesday, confirming rumors that Woods was significantly more injured than he let on while winning the 108th U.S. Open.

IMG released a statement saying the world No. 1 played at Torrey Pines with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a double stress fracture of the left tibia.

2. He beat the field playing an extra round ON.A.BROKEN.LEG
WOW does the rest of the field look REALLY pathetic now. At least Rocco was able to strike gold for 4 days and stay with Tiger...for a while

4. The Golf Channel also made an ass of itself
Well, foolishly optimistic. I laughed like hell for a few days.

Throughout the tournament and for a day later, Golf Channel kept running a commercial touting, "Two weeks of Tiger," saying Tiger would play in back to back tournaments in a couple of weeks, ones they would televise. How in hell did they think he would maintain his normal schedule?

I sent them a mocking email on Saturday, saying I wanted to make a nice wager they wouldn't get one week of Tiger. No reply. I didn't think he would be out for the year but I knew damn well he wouldn't play again until the British Open, at absolute earliest.

Yeah, Goosen was a moron in this case. I like the guy but he's frustrated by his form after the US Open collapse in the final round in '05. When Tiger couldn't find a fairway Goosen was the best US Open player for a few years in sum, and he doesn't want to completely concede that is long gone, and was fortunate to begin with.
