Folks, You Really Need To Watch Chris Paul Play
We may be witness to the greatest point guard in basketball history. He is a very, very special player.

1. Time will tell
I wouldn't call him the greatest ever just yet. Having said that, he is pretty amazing. I can't wait to see NO vs. Utah, and watch him and Deron Willams match up. I am sad, because I am a Mav's fan, but I didn't want J. Kidd. Harris would have matched up better against Paul.

2. Oh gawd. Save the hyperbole. There's sooooo much distance between him and the top 10...
... 3 years in the league and 2 playoff games?

3. I don't know about him being the best point guard ever yet
But Chris Paul deserves to win the MVP.

4. He looks good....that's for sure.
You're getting a little carried away with the greatest point guard in basketball history" talk, but I know what you're trying to say.

5. I never knew who he was until he was a guest on NPR's "Wait Wait"
He seems like a legitimately good guy. And now I've watched him. Pretty impressive player.

6. Best ever?
A few deserving guys come to mind:

Bob Cousy
KC Jones
Dave Bing
Joe Dumars
Earl, "the Pearl" Monroe
Lenny Wilkins
Gail Goodrich
Hal Greer
Oscar Robertson
Magic Johnson

Arguments can be made for any one of these players, and perhaps others as well. Chris Paul needs a few more seasons, and perhaps an NBA title to go along with it, before he can be considered to be the best of all time, methinks.

8. Scratch Dumars, write in Isaiah. Also left off Stockton, Nash, DJ, and KJ.

11. Joe Dumars?
Dumars was the shooting guard on that team. Isiah Thomas was the point guard.

And, you forgot John Stockton, Lenny Wilkens, and Tiny Archibald.

7. CP3 from the CBD!
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 02:16 PM by KamaAina
In New Orleans, "downtown" refers not to the center of business activity but to the portion of the city below Canal Street. It is also used as a direction: "...then go three blocks downtown on Broad...".

The center of business activity is instead known as the Central Business District, or CBD. New Orleans Arena is located right on the edge of the CBD. So instead of burying one from "downtown" it's... CP3 from the CBD!

edit: spelling

9. A Few More Years
I think you should wait a few more years before saying that. Magic Johnson won five NBA championships and was able to play all five positions. As of right now I think Johnson is ahead of Paul.

14. And you'll get at least one more series to do it!!
http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-37/120953290198590.xml&coll=1

With confetti falling from the rafters, Hornets star guard Chris Paul was wrapped in the warm embrace of his teammates as they celebrated the team's signature moment since moving to New Orleans in 2002 -- a playoff series victory.

The Hornets -- who just three years ago only won 18 games -- eliminated the Dallas Mavericks in five games 99-94 on Tuesday night in front of a sellout crowd of 18,260 at the New Orleans Arena....

The Hornets never trailed Tuesday night, and Paul was sensational as a playmaker, rebounder and scorer. He finished with a triple double -- 24 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds....

"I said I didn't want to go to Dallas (for a possible Game 6)," Paul said. "We're not popping champagne, but we're happy. Everything that we have done is all about this city. It's about rebuilding the city of New Orleans. The fans have been here for us. They are the reason that we're playing so well. We are going to fight always no matter what the environment is like, especially on the road."

15. They are all the BUZZ in New Orleans NOW
Cutting into some of the Saints positive press. I would like to see the Hornets somehow incorporate a Fleur Di lis into their logo. Something small, nondescript, but there.

16. Well, they do have the "Fleur de Bee"

also the home unies do appear to incorporate a tasteful blue one near the right shoulder.
