Jim Fassel probably out of the running for Skins top job.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/24/AR2008012403212.html

Former Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs called his former assistants yesterday to inform them that the search for his replacement is likely to take several more weeks, team sources said, a day after management's attempts to put together a staff for Jim Fassel, a head coaching candidate, collapsed.

Fassel had anticipated an offer from the Redskins on Wednesday, according to a source close to him, and earlier in the week discussed the framework of a contract with owner Daniel Snyder, something no other candidate has done.

Snyder and Vinny Cerrato, the team's executive vice president for football operations, spent Monday and Tuesday attempting to contact and interview assistant coaches Fassel wanted -- league sources said they included Baltimore's Rex Ryan, Seattle's Jim Zorn and San Diego's John Ramsdell -- but contractual stipulations precluded all but Zorn from interviewing.

Public sentiment about Fassel was decidedly negative once his involvement was disclosed, and, after huddling with Cerrato, Snyder called Fassel on Wednesday night to tell him the team would extend the search until after the Super Bowl on Feb. 3.

1. Would some one like to tell me WTF is wrong
with hiring Gregg Williams? Yeah he wasn't good in Buffalo. But come on! Four years under Joe Gibbs has probably taught him a thing or two. The players love him, most of the fans want this.
How can this schmuck not understand that blowing up the team every 3 or 4 years is terrible? Does Snyder not LEARN anything...
MiM--I have a bad feeling your joke about Brian Billick might NOT be a joke...:grr: :grr: :grr:
With all respect to Cboy, I think Snyder might be about the worst NFL owner around right now.

2. A colleague of mine here, who is a skins fan
echoed the same sentiments you have. It is truly a WTF moment.

His comment was that Billick is available and maybe that's who will get it.

BTW, did you read Tom Boswell's artical in the Post today?

I still think Snyder is under the spell of Tom Cruise. Has he become a Scientologist?

I hope you understand that I am trying really, really hard not to say anything too snarky! Cause it's really hard not too!

:hi:

3. snark away
I might be past the point of caring. I am seriously thinking if he blows this team up, I will no longer be a fan. I can't take the outright stupidity and arrogance anymore. In fact, if they do blow it up and name some stupid has been as a coach..Nobody would deserve to go 0-16 more than Snyder.
