Jazz fans some classess acts??? throwing things at spurs after loss
This was the first game of the best-of-seven series still in doubt in the fourth quarter, causing tempers to flare and bodies to fly. The Jazz got four technical fouls down the stretch, including the ejection of coach Jerry Sloan and usually mild-mannered Derek Fisher. Utah fans -- seeing their team lose at home for the first time in eight games this postseason -- showed their disgust by hurling things toward the court, appearing to hit San Antonio's Bruce Bowen with something small.

1. I almost started a similar post about the "class fans" in Utah.
I won't smear all of them -- I sure don't claim that all Spurs fans (or Longhorn fans, for that matter) are classy. But at some point, good sportsmanship went out the window. The Jazz fans booed every single Jazz foul as if it was an outrage and reacted to nearly every Spurs foul as if they had committed a felony. (Okay, there may be a slight bit of exaggeration there. ;) )

Now, I believe in supporting your team and we certainly did our share of cheering at Game 1 of this series but I'm just not one to boo. I also know that there are bad calls against both teams now and then and I don't think it's a conspiracy. I think smart teams realize that the officiating is part of the game and they adjust their play to it.

I like Utah and will likely root for them if they go on to win this series -- I'm a Western Conferance gal, I guess! But I cringe for the rest of their fans when a few idiots get carried away, especially on national television. I'd cringe if Spurs fans did the same thing.

2. It is uncharacteristic of our fans
But, I know Utah fans and so I'm sure it was just a few rouge attendees. Certainly not indicative of Utah fans in general.

3. Bad Image for NBA Fans
As a result of last night I think that when people talk about the bad image of the NBA they need to talk about the fans. It seems to me that some of the problems that happen in the NBA is due to the fans. In the Detroit fight some of the problem was the fans.

On another note, what were the Jazz fans saying at the end of the game. I listened to the end of the game on the radio, but could not understand what the fans were shouting at the end of the game. Was anyone else able to figure out what they were shouting?

4. Utah made Philly or Detroit sound tame last night.
Not just this incident, but the repeated "refs, you suck" chants every time a close call went against them. I was slightly rooting for Utah in this series, mostly because I hate the way the Spurs got through to this round, but now I'm back to just not caring much about this series.

5. What were they throwing? I was watching at the end and I didn't see
anything! Meanwhile, Popovich heards his players away as if the place was being showered by bottles.

So what were they supposedly throwing? (I'm not taking sides - I don't care about either team).

6. Ask Bruce Bowen what his stitches were caused by?
it doesn't matter what was being thrown, just that projectiles were being hurled at players

that is NOT class

7. According to this article, it was Carmex!

I can't find anything that says he had to get stitches, so I'll take your word for it (I put in "Bruce Bowen + stitches" into Google and got a picture of Steve Nash with blood dripping off his fact after his run in with the Spurs).

At least this article makes some reference to Ginobile and his flops.

9. LOL. It's true that I don't like the Spurs.
As a Pistons' fan, I've been exposed to their histrionics before. However, I don't particularly care either way about the Jazz! And it's also true that I watched the end of that game and didn't acutally see anything get thrown.

11. I actually asked the original question out of curiousity
and then I found the answer.

You must really dislike Cavs' fans, then, for throwing balls on the court DURING THE GAME!

13. Tell it to TNT!
Their announcers thought it was NBD. Although believe me, the Pistons are so much the stepchildren of the NBA that I am used to it and get really defensive about my team.
