BCS shakeup!! how will teams land?
Ohio St. and Michigan clearly lead the pack after a terrific weekend of college football.

The only other two teams that are undefeated are Rutgers and Boise St but I think they get the door slammed on them as far as national title game if they do win out. Rutgers might get a sniff but Boise doesn't have the schedule to do it.

Personally, unless the game this next weekend Ohio St. and Michigan becomes a really lopsided affair, these two meet again in Arizona after Jan.1.

USC will lose to Notre Dame who will finish with one loss but get shut out due to their loss to Michigan.

Can Florida survive a season finale against the Seminoles and then play in the SEC title game? Maybe but their road is sure easier than Arkansas, I think they lose one of their final two games to fall off the pace.

WEst Virginia same deal as Arkansas, they gotta win at Pitt and still play Rutgers in December. good luck there

OSU and Michigan in the Big game on Jan.8
Florida and Notre DAme in Sugar
Rutgers and Texas in Orange
Wake Forest or Maryland and Arkansas? in Fiesta
Wisconsin and USC/California in Rose Bowl.

what say you, did I forget an automatic bid somewhere sorry ACC I didn't give you much hope but that's the way I read the tea leaves

1. Now that we're out of it and I can be more neutral
I have to say that an Ohio State - Michigan rematch is only fair, especially if the game is close. They've been ranked number one and two nearly all season and it shouldn't be held against them that they're in the same conference. Whichever one ends up with one loss will have been beaten by either number one or number two! (Until last night, we were in that position and I would have been making the same argument for Texas! :) )

It's almost a relief that Texas lost. I knew there would be one come-back too many. :( Now we can try to win out and hope to play in a decent bowl game.

Hook 'em, Horns!

2. Kansas State did not beat the Longhorns
Kansas State beat the Longhorns MINUS Colt McCoy. On their home turf - and nearly lost the 35 point lead they had built over the Longhorns.

Maybe I'm still in denial, but I really didn't view last night as an upset - perhaps statistically, but I just didn't see that as an even matchup after Colt left and the unseasoned, rusty Jevan Sneed had to step in. The offensive line did all they could to support him, which is why they caught up so quickly, but there was no way Texas could have pulled off a win at an away game under those circumstances.

5. Yeah it's sort of like Karl Rove...
"We won a reelection with 51% of the vote - MANDATE!"

The Longhorns will come back next year with a healthy Colt McCoy and CLEAN THEIR CLOCKS!

9. Would Kansas State had won if Colt had stayed in?

11. snarf
Would Colt have thrown 3 ints for TD returns if he stayed in? Answer me that.

Oh you can't because you have no idea, unless of course you can predict the future...

your argument is based on what ifs...mine is based on fact---such as, when I look at the scoreboard Texas lost.

Let it go, let it go....

Weren't you the braintrust who INSISTED that the Longhorns couldn't beat USC in January? Hrmmmm..... ;)

12. No that wasn't me
Unless my dementia is farther advanced then I expect. I don't recall commenting on that game at all; but would fess up when seen the proof. The only thing I insist on is that Notre Dame will always be overrated. When I think of the University of Texas I think of someone with a rifle shooting from the tower.

7. Does this Colt Mccoy fellow play defense for the horns?
Do the Horns play more home games then away games?

I checked the Sports Page this morning and I'm sure it said KState beat Texas. There was no message of a minus. Is Texas minus Colt Mccoy a different team that I'm unaware of?

At least the Longhorns aren't as lucky in the polling process as the irish.

4. Wisconsin can't go, and Boise State has to go to one of these bowls
As I understand the rules, the BCS can't invite more than two teams from any one conference, so Wisconsin won't be in a BCS bowl. Also, if a non-BCS team finishes in the top 12 in the standings, they have to be invited, and it looks good for Boise State at this point, so they might be the ones to replace Wisconsin.

14. you're probably right
crap. If a team can go 11-1 in Big Ten play they deserve a BCS game. Unfortunately for Wisconsin the two best teams in the country play in their conference too.

13. I can't imagine anything worse than a Michigan-Ohio State re-match
I remember one year when two of those Florida teams (can't remember which two) played each other THREE TIMES. How ridiculous can you get?

15. What is with the Notre DAme hate?
They are going to beat USC next weekend to legitimize their ranking. They are much better than their soft middle of the season schedule says.

21. I've always liked Notre Dame - but I'm Catholic (and Irish)
I grew up in a smallish town with almost no Catholics, and a lot of people hated ND BECAUSE they were Catholic. I've always figured that ND hate was related to being bigoted against Catholics!

I DON'T think they should join a conference. They are the last of the great independents, ever since Penn State got into the Big Ten and ruined the Big Ten/Pac 10 Rose Bowl alliance.

I do not like the "super" conferences, and one big reason is that they shredded the Oklahoma/Nebraska rivalry. I can't believe the fans of those schools stood for that. Growing up, watching the annual Oklahoma/Nebraska game was a highlight for me and now, some years, they don't even play each other.

17. It's the elitism idea maybe?
I think that's it for me. They need to stop acting like the kings of collegiate athletics, join a conference, and stop playing colleges better known for their penny loafers than their football ;)

19. How about the fact that a lot of teams won't play ND
Because some teams want to put cream puffs on their schedule rather than play ND.

20. If Notre Dame
Played in the SEC they'd load up on as many cream puffs as the schedule would allow. I wouldn't want my alma mater, Arkansas, to waste a Saturday afternoon playing Notre Dame. I'd rather they give a big payday to the likes of Southeast Missouri State. And ND's new coach came off as a pompous ass on 60 minutes a few weeks ago. I consider that a perfect fit.

18. Every Season
they start off ranked artificially high, (for no apparent reason) then they load up the schedule with cup cakes, they don't belong to a conference, they have some unknown mystique which mystifys those with microphones and I believe it is a lie that they are wanted in bowl games. They don't join a conference for good reason. They may or may not beat USC, but they jumped four spots last week. Why? For only one reason, they are Notre Dame.

22. They have many established rivalries
and it's a given that most years they will play Michigan, Michigan State, and USC. I don't think they played BC this year, but have played them often in the past. I like ND, but then, BossHog, even though I like YOU, I can't stand the SEC.

If, God forbid, they ever go to a football playoff system, I'll tell you what I want. I want those southern teams to come UP NORTH and play a game in the snow! Oh, sure, they won't be able to expose their midriffs, and that will be sad, but I want to see what they do when you can't see the lines on the field and there is driving snow in their faces. Can you imagine anything sweeter than Miami coming up to the Big House in January, with temperatures at 5 below, and two inches of snow on the field? I can't.

23. In 1974
A High School Buddy of mine (we graduated in 72) was going to USC. He got me and my wife tickets for the USC-Notre Dame game and to the 75 Rose Bowl (USC-Ohio State). Two awesome games. The ND game would be one the Irish have forgotten a long time ago. Weather is a factor in most games. How bout Wisconsin playing in Miami the last Saturday afternoon in August? Or Michigan in a monsoon in Baton Rouge in October? If there were a playoff I think the NCAA would use domed stadiums to the max. Don't pick on the poor pitiful SEC, we just try to get by the best we can. I like you too Lisa. I'm an obnoxious National League Fan but this World Series I was pulling for the Tigers every game. The Cardinals record wasn't good enough for second place in the NL East.

24. Monsoon yes, August heat - NO
Football really shouldn't be played in August!

Were the ND fans nice to you? I have been to lots of games, and here are the schools where I've noticed the people are especially nice: ND, Syracuse, Oregon, USC, and Wazzou. Where the fans were especially awful: UNC, Michigan State, Ohio State, and UCLA.

Washington fans are a mixed bag, some have been very nice, but they breed they hatched in 1992 were really nasty.

One of my best friends went to LSU and she is super nice.

25. We were sitting right in the middle
of the USC student section so we didn't have any interaction with the small contingent of ND fans. If you ever get the chance, attend a game in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Whether it be football, baseball, basketball, track. It is one beautiful town with an awesome sports complex. The geography is incredible at the foothill of the Ozarks and the fall colors are mind boggling. My name is engraved on the senior walk. I'm very proud of my Alma Mater.

SEC fans growl at each other. We went to the Hogs-Ole Miss game in 89 in Jackson. Arkansas won the game and I found a fine Ole Miss Frat boy pissing on my truck tire in the parking lot after the game. My wife lit into his drunk ass before I had a chance to say a thing. I almost got into a fight with an Auburn fan at Auburn during a Hog Game in 93. I was stupid enough to get mouthy in Hare-Jourdan Stadium. The worst - don't wear your Dallas Cowboy Regalia to a home Eagles game.

I'm not too fond of LSU, but believe it or not there are more LSU fans here in South Mississippi then Ole Miss or MSU fans. We are only 20 miles from the Louisiana line.

That was word to the wise to any cowboy fan. Frat boys = young republicans. I chose to start my Naval Career before I went to College and I did both without Daddy's help or connections and I know I am much better off because of it.
