Bosox host Yanks for 5 games!
Starting Friday.

How many will Boston win? I think they will get back into first place.

2. Who cares?
Do not forget, the White Sox are still the champs until someone knocks them off. It will not be the Red Sox.

6. 5 games and counting. A real numb butt weekend...
I think at least three are on national networks. This afternoon, tomorrow afternoon and Sunday night.

7. Doesn't really matter
As long as the Twins sweep the White Sox in their series I will be happy. That is the REAL series going on now. :p

3 to zip. 39 to 12 runs!

In an unwelcome replay of the 1978 "Boston Massacre," the Yankees scored at least 12 runs in winning each of the first three of the five-game series and extending their lead in the AL East to a season-high 4 1/2 games. Twenty-eight years ago, New York swept four at Fenway in September to erase the rest of what had been a 14-game deficit; the Yankees won the division that year on Bucky Dent's popup homer in a one-game tiebreaker.

The Red Sox had never allowed 12 runs or more in three consecutive games.

Josh Beckett (13-8) walked a career-high nine batters in 5 2-3 innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits and striking out two to remain winless in his last five starts. The last Red Sox pitcher to walk as many as nine batters in a game was Roger Moret, who walked nine in a complete game victory over the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 22, 1975.

10. Hmm.... First place? A little better shot at the WC but not much.
Red Sox looked tired after the first three losses. Sure they had reason to be, but this was Fenway and the other team has to be tired also. Not only that but Torre put in an anemic line-up on Monday and the Sox still could not out-score them, even though Wells only gave up 2 runs. Where is the pride? Lidle walks three in the bottom of the 4th and the Sox couldn't plate one run? Sad, but not as sad as the ninth inning on Sunday. That was a disgrace in both top and bottom.
