UFC fans thread
Anybody gonna watch the Gracie-vs.-Hughes fight on Saturday? I'm pulling for Hughes but I'm not making a prediction. These things always have a habit of not coming out like you would think.

1. Let me know who wins. My bet is Gracie takes him.

2. Well,
Gracie is the best grappler in the world but the rules in the UFC don't favor him as much as they used to. Plus everybody knows his game now. And Hughes is strong as a friggin' ox. Still, it could go either way.

3. Casual viewer
I'm really just limited to whatever they show on Spike and of course The Ultimate Fighter.

I have seen older UFC's though with Gracie. And I've seen a few Hughes fights. I would love to see Gracie get the win just to show he still has it . . . but I think Hughes is going to get the win . . but I don't think it'll be via submission . .if anything points.

With that being said looks like a fun fight.

If anything I think it'll be closer than Tito/Shamrock II will be (Although Tito will go in injured)

4. Hughes will likely ground and pound him out.
I just think that Hughes will be strong enough to pull out of Gracie's submissions.

Who else is fighting on that card? (lemme go check)

Brandon Vera Vs. Assuerio Silva

Mike Swick Vs. Joe Riggs (Good fight!)

Diego Sanchez Vs. John Alessio (Never seen Alessio fight, but I'd love to see Sanchez take a beating)

Melvin Guillard Vs. Rick Davis

Spencer Fisher Vs. Matt Wiman

Alessio Sakara Vs. Dean Lister

Gabriel Gonzaga Vs. Fabiano Scherner

Jeremy Horn Vs. Chael Sonnen (Horn's back fighting at 185)

5. UFC 60 results (Spoilers)
Matt Hughes vs Royce Gracie

Hughes absoluetly destroyed Gracie. It wasn't ever in doubt. It went to the ground fairly early and Hughes locked in an arm bar that would have submitted anyone other than Gracie. I still don't know how he avoided tapping. Hughes eventually took his back, straightened him out and viciously pounded him until the ref stopped it. Absolute domination.

Brandon Vera Vs. Assuerio Silva

Vera is my absolute favorite heavyweight prospect. He's so well rounded. He submitted Silva in the first round with a guillotine choke. Silva's got nothing but a good chin.

Mike Swick Vs. Joe Riggs

Another quick fight as Riggs continues to underacheive. Swick landed a big leg kick to the head and then sunk in one of the fastest guillotines you'll ever see when Riggs panicked and went for the takedown. Mike Swick's quickness is going to take him places in that middleweight division. They shouldn't rush him into a title fight right away, but I think he could give Rich Franklin some problems. How about paring Swick up with his fellow Ultimate Fighter alum, Nate Quarry?

Diego Sanchez Vs. John Alessio

Interesting fight, albeit a bit underwhelming. Diego Sanchez looked much lighter and less powerful. He fought more like a pure bjj guy than the ground and pound nightmare we've seen before. Alessio's takedown defnse was great and it might have thrown Sanchez. The most noteworthy thing about this one was the fact that the last 3:25 of the final round was fought with Sanchez on Allesio's back in a standing position. He did just enough late damage to eek out a decision victory.

Melvin Guillard Vs. Rick Davis

Guillard looks HUGE at 155. He showed awesome knockout power in his hands and feet and overwhelmed an outclassed Davis early. He scored a one punch knockout midway through the first round. I'm eager to see Guillard against some better competition.

Spencer Fisher Vs. Matt Wiman

Wiman was pretty game in the first round, he locked in a choke that almost finished the fight. Spencer showed some guts getting out of it and then cut Wiman badly with an elbow right befor the end of the round. The second round was all Fisher as he rocked him with a right hand and finished him with a flying knee.

Alessio Sakara Vs. Dean Lister

Lister never let Sakara get his standup game going. He got him to the ground and finished him with one of the more clean triangle chokes you'll ever see. Lister's BBJ is the real shit.

Gabriel Gonzaga Vs. Fabiano Scherner

Not a great fight between two heavyweight grapplers. Gonzaga had more effective strikes and was able to bang up Scherner's right eye to the point where he almost quit between the 1st and 2nd round.

Jeremy Horn Vs. Chael Sonnen

This one didn't air, but if anyone knows the result I'd be very interested.

7. Finally watched Hughes versus Gracie
First off Hot crowd. they were into it all the way.

I predicted Hughes to win but damn I figured it make it out of the first round. The minute it got on the ground Hughes dominated. However Gracie is definitely still a tough son of a bitch and him remaining calm during that arm bar proves it. Still Hughes dominated like you said and the ref had to stop the match. Not a great fight but fun with a hot crowd and Gracie just being so calm while in that "cringes" arm bar.
