2. I have to say...
That was one of the most impressive defensive performances I've seen all year. LSU deserved that win.

3. Let the tournament begin!
I can actually watch the games now. The NCAA tournament doesn't start until evil Duke is ousted. I can't begin to descibe my grin when I clicked to the game and LSU led 57-54 with 25 seconds remaining. Now if someone can just evict the Gators the sports world will be cleansed.

4. Interesting . . .
each team exactly doubled its first-half score.

Score at the half: LSU 31; Duke 27
Final score: LSU 62; Duke 54

5. Another rarity in that regard
The second half is much higher scoring than the first half in college basketball, normally 10 points on average. I'm not sure that is readily understood. It certainly isn't publicized in the mainstream media. You get all the fouling down the stretch, for one thing. For the two teams to combine for only 58 second half points is very low.

In Las Vegas, if the total on a college basketball game is 140, the first half total will be in the 65 range and the second half basically 75. Not the case in the NBA, where the two halves are basically the same with the first half slightly higher scoring, if anything.

9. GEAUX Tigers!
having spent tonight in a Duke bar (yes, only in DC are there Duke bars) as the only person rooting against Duke, I am happy.

And that was a wild game, awful, inconsistent reffing combined with insane defense, I don't think I've ever seen that many blocked shots, by as many players, as in that one. fabulous to watch.

oh, and as much as I despise Duke, Sheldon Williams stepped up, great game by him. He leaves the NCAAs a man.

12. Duke
I guess all those people who said that Duke would lose to a lower ranked team in the sweet 16 or elite 8 were right.
