Cowboys sign Terrell Owens
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 06:13 PM by Longhorn
By JAIME ARON
AP Sports Writer

IRVING, Texas — Terrell Owens has gone from stomping on the Dallas Cowboys' star logo to wearing it on his helmet.

The reviled receiver joined the Cowboys on Saturday, signing a three-year, $25 million contract to play for Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells in what promises to be an interesting combination of strong personalities. The deal includes a $5 million signing bonus, with salaries of $5 million this year, $8 million in 2007 and $7 million in 2008.

"I'm a star among stars now," a smiling Owens said.

There's no questioning his talent — Owens has consistently put up numbers the Cowboys have lacked since Michael Irvin was in the prime of his career in the mid-1990s.

1. This is gonna piss my dad off
He's been a diehard Cowboys fan his whole life, and he absolutely despises TO. I'm sure there's a lot of other Cowboys fans that probably feel the same way.

19. No, TO will make it through the year.
Jones will dump TO after a year when Parcells retires. JJ is only looking at next year.

3. does this make the 'Boys the favourites in the East now?
I was leaning towards the Skins, and I think they have the defensive edge, and we'll see what Saunders can do for the offense, but this is going to make for a pretty cool season, all around.

7. If TO's learned anything, this will be great for the 'Boys...
If he's still the same ol' knucklehead, then good luck to Dallas.

8. I think even he's smart enough to realize that this is his last shot.
Three strikes and you're out. If he screws up in Dallas, then nobody will ever sign him, and his NFL career will be over.

Now that I think about it though, TO really is a perfect fit for Dallas, considering the soap opera that team has been over the years. In a way, he was destined to be a Cowboy.

14. As a Cowboys fan, I have to agree
Jerry Jones is the only person crazy enough to sign TO. If the fundies down here hadn't baned gay marriage, those two would've gone to the chapel a long time ago.
