Oooooo, Let the Eagles soar....
With no apologies whatsoever to John Ashcroft, I join Sports Illustrated in picking the Boston College Eagles over Montana in today's Second Round.

SI:

4) Boston College vs. (12) Montana
Jared Dudley, we all love those tightly knit rows. But this is a team game; join your compadres, shave the dome. I'm gonna keep drinking the Eagle juice, because looking at Montana's size (or overwhelming lack thereof), it just tastes so right.
Boston College 82, Montana 72

2. And here I thought you meant Hockey East
:D

The Eagles beat my Maine Black Bears. Bummer. But these are my two favorite colleges so I can't be too disappointed.

And now the basketball Eagles face either Villanova (I almost went to school there) or Arizona. Cool!

6. BC Eagles going with experience Vs. Villanova
Edited on Thu Mar-23-06 10:34 PM by SpiralHawk
Things looking more interesting with Duke out of the tourney.

http://www.boston.com/sports/colleges/mens_basketball/articles/2006/03/20/bounce_in_their_step/

"This current BC (Boston College) squad has an interesting mixture of talent and age, but at its core is another veteran quartet, consisting of seniors Smith and Hinnant, plus juniors Dudley and Sean Marshall.

Smith, Dudley, and Marshall have started every game for the past three years, a span of 99 games. Hinnant has been with them 93 times, missing those other six after sustaining a wrist injury in the opening game against Appalachian State two years ago.

"Don't bother to look it up. No other team in college basketball's upper echelon can match this type of unit experience,.."

8. BC Vs. Villanova

Coming at you today. 7:10 PM Eastern time.

You can find lots of "experts" picking Nova, and lots picking BC. The two teams seem to be about even in terms of who thinks who can beat who.

I call it a good match, and potentially a great competitive game. The two teams have different strengths and capacities, but they are both excellent -- and both rested for this game.

I'm picking BC to win, basically for sentimental home-town reasons, but also because I FEEL they can do it.

P.S. - The BC Ladies have quite a basketball Spring, too.

11. BC blocks Nova's last gasp shot. Going to OT
This should be good. Watch for the momentum to shift back to BC. They realize they have been Sleep Walking for the last 9 1/2 minutes.

12. Nova advances with a 60-59 win
I'm going with the Sports-Illustrated Cover-Curse excuse.

Good luck the rest of the way, Villanova...
