Champions League second leg!
Barcelona defeated Chelsea ;bounce: for thse who might not know, Chelsea is basically the Yankees of English Football, except they don't plat fair and the manager Jose Mourinho has all the jerkiness of an arrogant Repuke :puke:
Juve someway, somehow, got a gift goal to beat Werner to advance--the poor German goalkeeper had played lights out all night long, until the last save he made in regualr time slipped out of his hans anda Juve player (Emerson) simply chipped the ball back in.
Villareal advanced, holding a nice Rangers side to a home draw.

NOW, this afternoon US time will be Bayern Munich vs AC Milan, Arsenal vs Real Madrid, and today's main event: Liverpool vs Benfica :wow: Can liverpool figure out how to score a goal plese? The other two matches are way too close to call...

Considering that the Liverpool-Benfica game is at Anfield, I wouldn't be surprised if benfica gets beaten badly. Obviously, I'm taking Liverpool to win and advance. Bayern/AC Milan should be interesting, but I see Milan advancing onward. I agree that Arsenal/Real Madrid is too close to call. I think the game will be decided on whether or not Thierry Henri has another tour de force game like he did in the first leg. If so, Arsenal advances. Of course, it always helps going into the home leg with a two goal advantage on the aggregate.

Bremen had such bad luck yesterday. I felt so sorry for the players. They played their asses off and lost at the last minute. I was holding out hope that Rangers could make something happen yesterday to get them through to the next round, but it wasn't to be. It would have been nice to see a team from Scotland in the Elite Eight. I give them alot of credit though, they advanced a lot further that was expected. Congrats boys, you did Scottish soccer well. :patriot:

In closing, I agree that Jose Mourinho is an arrogant douche. He's more arrogant than Rove and Cheney combined. I don't think that Chelsea is as close to the Yankees as it is believed. Mainly because Chelsea does not have the tradition of excellence that the Yankees have.

Now the only British side is..Arsenal, another team who has Dead Eye Dickls shooting skill syndrome :eyes: And those dumbasses Bayern Munich must have take the wrong turn on the Italian autobahn--they didn't even LOOK like they wanted to win :argh: AC Milan kicked their asses left and right! so now I hae Barca, Juve, and Milan to root for--i think Inter is playing on Friday for some odd reason..

6. Liverpool chokes.
Nothing like not using home field advantage at all, am I right? For the most part the English side played dreadfully, particularly Liverpool and Chelsea. Liverpool couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, and Chelsea clearly had no desire to be playing on Tuesday night. The only English side that actually played was Arsenal. For all of their domestic faults this year, Arsenal seemed to be playing with a sense of urgency that the other two sides did not.

8. Lehman was huge.........
That's all they have to play for. Bolton knocked them out of the FA cup, no way they'll win the league. Even making the Champions league next year will be tough.

7. Actually, Man U are the equivalent of the NY Yankees
I think the two clubs might even have business links!

If you lot can think of a US sports team who have been taken over by a billionaire sugar daddy from Russia then you can rest assured that you have found the US equivalent of Chelski.

9. you have a good point
I can't compare Chelski to, say, the Seahawks--only because Paul allen made his money from co-starting Microsoft. and allen si a very respected owner as well a a decent guy :-) romo for Chelski, he's just a rich guy adding on to Mourinho's arrogance and ego, so I can't support Chelski despite their, ahem, "winning" ways :eyes: Man U has alot of hisotry and pride, especially the Busby era when they were the first English team to really play against the other European giants like Real Madrid.
