99 NCAA Teams Get Penalties
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 02:23 AM by erpowers
Earlier this morning the NCAA reported that 99 teams from 65 schools failed to meet academic standards set by the NCAA and could begin to lose both athletes and scholarships. If you think the 99 is bad that is not the worse part. It seems that things could have or would have been worse if not for the "statistical adjustments made for squad size" and waivers made based on mission statements.

Sacramento State and Prairie A&M were among the hardest hit. Sacramento State has about six teams that will face penalties. This could cost Sacramento State 2.3 scholarship. While A&M could lose 10 athletes from 5 different teams and lose 5.3 scholarships. On the other hand the military academies, Brown, Harvard, Yale, Notre Dame, along with William and Mary have continued to outperform NCAA standards.
